Leather wrapped steering wheel is back!

So one of the things I thought was removed is now back? When 2023 order guides came out it was synthetic steering wheel cover but I just looked at my window sticker and it says leather wrapped steering wheel! I saw it before on the build and price but just assumed it was because it hadn't been updated. It's a nice surprise! Maybe I got it because of the BAP?

I think synthetic leather, like the seats. Don't think any car makers are using real leather on anything below luxury status these days.

Mine shows the same and I don’t have the BAP.

My Lariat Lux has it. Not sure if it's real leather but it feels like it. Feels and looks different than the seats.

I read somewhere there is a surplus of hides. Maybe due to our love of beef and use of synthetic leather elsewhere. It would be the problem of finding people that can work with leather that would restrict it. IMHO

This assessment is likely close to the truth. I visited a tanning facility once. You have to like the work.

Out of curiosity, has anyone actually received their Maverick with a "premium-wrapped steering wheel" (basically ActiveX/synthetic leather)? Or did they never actually switch in the first place, they just planned on it?

They could not call it leather if it was not. They would have to call it synthetic leather or ActiveX or something else.

The term that Ford uses is "premium wrapped" for the synthetic leather steering wheel. It's similar to the ActiveX seating material, but for reasons only Ford knows, they don't use that branding. Though the wording sounds more like the wheel is wrapped in "premiums", whatever those are.

e.g.

Since they seem to have switched at least some window stickers back to indicating leather, that implies they are once again using real leather.
