Just for air in the tires the Ryobi battery compressor works fine. Unless your intention is to deflate all four to go into sand or something.

the biggest issue with air compressor ratings is the surge, when it 1st kicks on is higher than the max running current draw usually advertised.

I agree with Ranchero. The initial draw is what kills you. I've tried with a small 1 gal Dewalt compressor and it wouldn't even kick on. I ultimately went with just a small inflatable battery powered one. I did the research and there are almost no tank compressors that will draw so little amps at startup.

You need a tire inflator, not a compressor. As noted above the start up draw is likely too large for the Maverick outlet. I carry a VIAIR inflator in our motorhome and it has worked flawless for years airing up the tires. It is 12 volt, but there are 110 volt models available. And an inflator is a lot smaller than a full on compressor.

I’ve kept one of these with two batteries in my vehicles for years. I have 10,000 ryobi batteries I’ve collected over the years. Works great and if for some reason BOTH batteries are dead I can charge one via the 110.

IMHO, your better off with a 12V tire inflation pump and either hard wire it to the 12V DIY accessory in the bed or, even better, install a cigarette/USB socket combo in the bed cubby to the same 12V accessory and plug the inflation pump into it when needed. Option #2 is much more useful.

As others have said, a pancake compressor is wayyyy overkill to fill up a tire. There are tons of specific tire inflators out there that can run on 12v (cigarette socket) or the 120v outlets without blowing a fuse.

I was just thinking about the tire inflator for some minor offroading. Are the 12v ones sufficient to air up after airing down? Wouldn't using the 120v outlet be better? On the hyybrid, do both (12v and 120v) draw off the hybrid battery or the starting battery?

I got to thining about the inflator because it's really the only thing I can think of using the 120v outlet for. What do you use the outlet for?
