I have a 2024 Hybrid Lariat and wired my Kia Auto-Dimmer mirror just like Norm specified in his YouTube video by splicing into the dome light wires. The mirror works great but now I get an error that the front camera that it is not functioning and forward collision is off. I noticed that the wires from the front camera, another device on the windshield and the dome light harness all combine into the same wiring cord that runs down the driver's A-pillar. My guess is that at least one of the wires used from the dome lights ties into a wire from the front camera, throwing the camera fault. I think I now will have to run the power for the mirror directly from the passenger fuse panel to take care of this problem. Any thoughts?

Hey Bill. First, that was not my video, I just posted it here. Unless you added a camera, the wiring should be the same for you as everyone else who added the mirror with out faults. Before I would run the mirror wires to the fuse panel I would double check my wiring. I suspect one of the mirror wires is hooked up to the wrong source. If not, then your fix will work I'm sure. good luck.

Thanks, Norm. I added a Dashcam but it is hooked directly to the fuse panel (fuses slots 3 and 24 and ground bolt).

My dashcam and mirror are both tapped off of the camera cord (not the dome light) and if all wires are connected properly (8 on a lariat, 6 on the lower trims), it works fine. The only time I had a forward assist problem was when all 8 wires were not seated properly. Pin 4 is +12V; pin 5 is ground. I have 2 Mavericks and a 2020 Ford Transit connected this way. I have inserted a patchcord, but you could just tap pin 4 and pin 5.

Ok, thanks. To be safe, I'll probably just run wires directly to the fuse panel than tap off the camera harness.

I also have the same vehicle and used the three wires for the lights and it works. You must’ve done something wrong check your connections.

This is exactly why I wired directly into the fuse box. I did not want to cause any issues with the rest of the electronics in my truck.

Why are some choosing to use the camera harness to power up there mirrors when there is a perfect source for ground, constant power and acc power at the map light connector? Personally I wouldn't mess with a safety item like the camera. I wired both my dash cam and mirror to the map lights without issue.

I agree. Some folks have said they had camera faults using the camera wiring.

Why would you care? Both my Mavericks and my transit have dashcams powered by patch cords at the assist cameras...and the Mavericks also have KIA mirrors on the same cords. Done correctly, there are no faults.

Why would I care? Because there is a better, safer way that others need to be aware of.

I agree that there are two ways to connect the mirror. My point that I was trying to make is that it's just a better option and just as easy to wire to the map lights. The camera is a sensitive and expensive safety device and owner's really shouldn't be tapping into it to power other devices when there is such an easy usable power source literally 8 inches away. BTW in a just retired Toyota Pro tech.
