So my ruby red metallic lariat got keyed the other day. Took it in to see about repair. Was quoted over $3k. Anyone have experience with this?

Thankfully, no. Are those cameras under your mirrors, if so, is there anything on them?So my ruby red metallic lariat got keyed the other day. Took it in to see about repair. Was quoted over $3k. Anyone have experience with this?

Unfortunately for the OP, that's just for the 360 camera system when the rearview camera is activated. They don't continuously record like Century Mode on Teslas.Thankfully, no. Are those cameras under your mirrors, if so, is there anything on them?
The $3k quote was for repainting both doors, the rear panel and front panel to blend the color going around the front and back. So I imagine it is deep enough into the paint to warrant that. They did try to buff it out first but too deep for that.Ahhhh that SUCKS! F'ing vandals ...
Can't tell from the picture but did they grind all the way through the paint to the metal, or is it only through the clearcoat?
No. It was like it is on the Pic. You can see the white line for the spot. Pretty good distance away. The other side is a curb. Were you taking up two parking spaces? Just asking as that is a generous amount of space on the passenger side. Sometimes folks think other folks need a lesson for that. I wish folks could just leave other's people's property alone.
I had to paint about 75% of my MY2024 HPR after 14 months due to multiple motorcycle hit/runs and vandalism. It was under $1k usd, but that was in Mexico and performed by a friend. The truck looks very good with several more coats of clear than stock.
$3K sounds high, but of course they are painting 3 body panels there and having to make sure it blends well with that front fender.
That’s unfortunate more reason to have a dash cam with parking mode - I’d repair it and trade it maybe just trade it and take the hit on the trade verses paying for the repair and a hit on the trade-inSo my ruby red metallic lariat got keyed the other day. I agree with all of the above except this was far from a case of negligence. More like willful destruction. You have to hit an all-time low in order to do something like this. What did this gain that person? It must be done out of jealousy or utter stupidity, or a mix of the two. I'm sorry to hear the astronomical quote. Having to pay out of pocket for someone else's negligence should never be a thing.
$3000 seems very high. I’m basing that on I had a dent in my rear drivers side panel. Just behind the gas fill door. The whole panel had to be replaced. New ford panel paint and blend the whole side. I grew up around body shops so I was able to convince the insurance adjuster to write for a complete side blend because it is black. Total $1900. I would get a couple more quotes. It’s possible that is the going rate in your area but I would still shop it.So my ruby red metallic lariat got keyed the other day. Took it in to see about repair. Was quoted over $3k.
