Well, I THOUGHT I would be placing a MY23 Maverick order this week. Instead, we are looking at a delay and AT LEAST another full month of MY22 Maverick production. So, with that said, I went ahead and emailed my dealer and asked to change the color on my current order from Hot Pepper Red to Cactus Gray.

I really like HPR, but Cactus Gray has grown on me a lot this year seeing photos of other trucks posted here on the forum. At this point, if I am fortunate enough to actually get scheduled as a MY22, I think I'd be disappointed if I didn't make the switch. So, I did.

Now, if I do end up getting pushed to MY23, then it's going to be Avalanche Gray all the way...:p

🌵 gray is the way. Although Avalanche is nice too. Loved it on the 2017 Raptor.

You realize it's probably going to reset your price protection so you'll be paying at least the $1k increase from 7/1? Edit: Looks like you ordered after the December price increase so that's already factored. But you could also be forfeiting the old financing rates.

Do you have your VIN and build date (estimate?) Did your sales rep respond they changed your order or you just assuming they will get it done?

Reason I'm mentioning this is if you have your VIN- your order is locked at Priority 2 by regional team and dealer can't make changes at this late date. If you are not at Priority 2 dealer can usually make changes. Not sure about this late in the game tho...

Avalanche as well for my 23 when my 22 is officially "unscheduled balanced out".

No, this is not true. Making small changes to your order (color, packages, accessories, etc.) DOES NOT reset your order date. Only switching between engines (hybrid vs. EB) or trims (XL, XLT, Lariat) does that. This has been well covered on this forum in multiple threads and discussed at length by @fordvideoguy

I checked with Ford chat this week. My order is still Unscheduled-Clean, at Priority 10. So no, I do not yet have a VIN or build week. My sales manager should have no trouble making the color switch.

Oh, and again, should not change price level, which is attached to my original order date of 1/25/22. Incidentally, that's price level 225, which as you noted, was after the first price increase but before the most recent price increase of $1K on July 1 of this year.

Bottom line, this change should result in a net reduction in my MSRP of $390, which is just the price of the Hot Pepper Red color, as Cactus Gray is a standard color option.

I did as my dealer, in my email requesting the change, to confirm the MSRP as price protected, $390 below the previously quoted price.

Is it just me or does Cactus Gray seem to have a greenish tint to it? All I have to go on is pictures online.

One less awesome HPR on the road just makes mine rarer. I don't hate Cactus Grey, but ever other car on the road is some version of that right now.

Watch out for cactus because it is not metallic and tends to get washed out in bright sun. This video I saw has 2 metallic and one non-metallic A51, which also can get washed out in certain light.

Well guys, looks like I'm sticking with Hot Pepper Red.. My dealer tried to make the change today but said the system wouldn't let him change anything on the order.

I'm still at Priority 10 but I'll take that as a sign Ford is at least considering my order.

At this point I'm paranoid about screwing something up and jeopardizing my private offer if I'm pushed to MY23.

As I told my dealer, "If I get a red truck I'll buy it!"

I had a new black car for 11 months that needed to be washed every 2nd or 3rd day. I like Cactus gray and ordered it. The red would need to be washed a lot more often. I orderd the same date, we are at the end of the line, but with all ecos being scheduled this month, maybe just maybe we will get ours!
