Ok so I originally ordered my Maverick on September 27th. It is an XLT AWD Ecoboost with 4k tow package and co pilot 360 in Iconic Silver, Priority Code 19. I havent been scheduled or anything yet which I am not surprised about. ( I did get the email from ford the day I ordered saying the order is confirmed) I just talked to my dealer today to check in and see if any came in yet so I could take a look because I still havent seen one in person. So apparently none of the customer orders have been delivered yet and they were not sure off the top of their head if any of the customer orders have even been scheduled yet. They said they had around 20 orders as of today, but they said they had 2 dealer retail orders come in at the beginning of the month and they sold in a day or two, They also said they have another dealer stock maverick being built now that should be here sometime in the beginning of January. Which i found to be weird. I thought ford was building customer orders first before dealer stock. I am starting to worry it may be a long time until I see mine. I ordered end of september and was told there was 10-15 orders ahead of mine then so if mine is built after those I may be looking at a very long time. Anyone else find it weird that none of the customer orders have come in yet but the dealer got 2 for dealer stock with a 3rd on the way? I dont know maybe its just me but something isnt adding up

Sounds about normal to me, there’s lots of people with early order dates that still don’t have a build date yet.

Nothing shady from the dealer most likely but quite possibly Ford. My dealer has had several dealer-ordered Mavs come in and get sold. They have a hybrid already built and waiting on the Great Release Date to be shipped so I may assume ownership. It was a dealer order that went into production in September. Clearly, Ford is NOT filling retail customer orders first.

I believe that despite Ford's claim that customer orders will be filled first, they still trickled in a number of stock builds to appease desperate dealers. Can't all be cancelled/refused orders that customers placed.

Yeah you should expect a minimum of 6 month wait from time of order to get yours. I just took possession of my Mav XL EcoBoost with AWD. Those were the only two options I picked and I just took delivery of my truck yesterday. The builds with the least amount of chips in them are the ones being built and sold first. That coupled with the fact that I ordered on day one of the reservation site going live. You have some time to wait here. The good news is my sales guy called me the minute the first one came in so I and all of his other clients could look at it. We weren't allowed to drive it but we could sit in it and poke our heads around. Having driven it for 24 my initial impression is very good! Nice amount of driver space and the ride at this time look to be really good. I'll post more once I have time to spend more time with it. Having my modifications being done this week.

Yes I did order late but not a single customer order from my dealership has been delivered, and possibly not even scheduled yet, and I am sure some of the 20 were ordered in June and July. I dont know how not a single one hasnt come in.

Probably a dealer stock to fill a truck that could be made headed to an area when customer orders could not be built do to constraints or what ever limitations they had to work under.

The one coming in beginning of January to my dealer has a lot of options. I find it hard to believe that was less equipped than other customer orders. The one getting delivered in January is Velocity Blue XLT with FX4 Package AWD ecoboost Moonroof tow package co pilot 360 maybe even some other options i forgot. So i dont know, i dont see how that gets ahead of more basic builds, especially for dealer stock.

Not really odd, no. Dealers got one or two out of the gate, probably built in June-July and also need demonstrator units. It’s best to compare the maverick ramp up to the bronco sport. Bronco sports were produced at around 4-5 thousand per month, October to December, 2020. Same as Maverick. Then follow the link below and scroll down to the last spreadsheet. Now follow the 2021 model year production numbers for the Bronco Sport, Jan-June 2021. Notice that the bulk of the Bronco Sport orders, nearly two thirds were built Feb-Apr for the 2021 model year. I think we can expect something similar with the Maverick.

If you follow Fordvideoguy, he says he still hasn’t seen the big schedule of dealer allocations yet. Long MacArthur was allocated nearly one third of their total orders for a January build. And they only got one scheduled last week, so they’re expecting a big week next week. Ford is still scheduling January 2021 on the Maverick, so the odds of getting a production date will not improve until the February production dates go out in December emails.

Let me rephrase. There is no way we can second guess why or why not a build will or will not occur as we are not aware of all that has to be considered. Maybe something as mundane as the computer noticing that (using your example) it needs something for the moonroof robot to do and your build was identical in every other aspect except your order did not have the needed moon roof. Who knows??? I ordered a cactus gray XLT LUX +OPTIONS on August 27th. No idea when but 2nd guessing 40/60 chance scheduled by 1/15/22. My fear is that when phev maverick order book is opened one month orders will make our wait look like a walk in the park. Good luck! I do believe that Ford is just trying to build something that probably exceeded it's expectations FIVE FOLD!

Is your dealer small? Probably super low allocations.

This claim is oft-repeated, but I think Ford never said that. Not just be a contrary jerk, feel free to correct me (hopefully with a source) if I am wrong.

Assuming you don’t hit any constraints, probably more like 60/40 by end of January, 70/30 by end of February, 80/20 by end of March, 90/10 by end of April. Luckily a plug-in hybrid, or more likely fully electric maverick won’t be offered until at least the next model year but most likely not until 2025 at the earliest. And here’s why:
