My maverick was confirmed 9/20/23, scheduled for production on 7/18, VIN was available around this time, built 7/19, and shipped 7/19. Estimated delivery was between 8/1-8/14, then moved earlier to 7/27-8/09.
I called my dealer to ask about tracking; he said he would look it up and call back. An hour later, he calls and says, “I know you were excited, but your Maverick is estimated to be REDEVELOPED from a 2023 to a 2024 model, which will probably take place between 7/27-8/09. You don’t have a VIN and won’t be receiving your car anytime soon.” I said I’ve had my VIN for a while now with consistent email updates and think there has been a mistake. He said to forward him the email from Ford showing my VIN and he’d let me know.
Can anyone speak to the merit of this? I’ve never seen this happen before. With the amount of shady dealer tactics lately, I’ve been admittedly a little on edge. Don’t want to name the dealer in case it’s a mistake.
