My maverick was confirmed 9/20/23, scheduled for production on 7/18, VIN was available around this time, built 7/19, and shipped 7/19. Estimated delivery was between 8/1-8/14, then moved earlier to 7/27-8/09.

I called my dealer to ask about tracking; he said he would look it up and call back. An hour later, he calls and says, “I know you were excited, but your Maverick is estimated to be REDEVELOPED from a 2023 to a 2024 model, which will probably take place between 7/27-8/09. You don’t have a VIN and won’t be receiving your car anytime soon.” I said I’ve had my VIN for a while now with consistent email updates and think there has been a mistake. He said to forward him the email from Ford showing my VIN and he’d let me know.

Can anyone speak to the merit of this? I’ve never seen this happen before. With the amount of shady dealer tactics lately, I’ve been admittedly a little on edge. Don’t want to name the dealer in case it’s a mistake.

If it was shipped already I highly doubt it would turn out to be a 2024 model year vehicle.

It it did ship, one of those e-mails from Ford should read "Your vehicle is on its way" near the top.

I’ve been on top of emails and have been in contact with the salesperson. This dealership is very highly rated and trusted in my area, so I truly hope it is just a mistake. Going to call Ford customer service directly tomorrow and give the dealership a visit. Don’t know what else to do besides that.

Yeah - that's the e-mail. Delivery can take some time; hopefully your truck is still in transit and this was just a mistake that can be quickly cleared up.

I'm always a fan of showing up in person when you can. Hope it goes well tomorrow!

I think, where you have the VIN, that the vehicle can be tracked to it's location. I don't know how, but some on this forum do.

That doesn't sound right at all. Either the person who you spoke to is looking up the wrong order or they are trying to sell your truck to someone else.

Since the order bank is still open they could be thinking of stealing your order and placing a new 2024 order for you to make you feel better.

I would give Ford customer service a call to see what they say about the status. Let them know what the dealer is telling you about the 2023 getting redeveloped in to a 2024 and have them document it.

Then go to the dealer ASAP and talk directly with the sales manager. Ask them to show you what the tracker is showing and see what BS excuses they make.

In So Cal the dealer usually gets the truck about 1 week after it ships from the Mexico. Maximum would be two weeks if there's a wait for a truck going to that dealer.

Good luck!

UPDATE: contacted Ford customer service directly and they insisted the car was delivered. Went into the dealership and they continued to insist the car wasn’t there, even after performing a physical search. I then asked to see the VinView. He responds, “That’s an internal thing we do, so I’m curious how you know that.” He then went back to check again and came back saying he had found the car . I went with him to see the car and it was sitting near the front of their small lot where cars are delivered. Don’t know how he missed it.

Make what you will of my experience, but it could have been a lot smoother. Just happy to have my car now. No mark up, just a short pitch to buy their insanely overpriced nitrogen air and paint protection package. I tried not to laugh.

Thanks for everyone’s advice. 😎

It's quite a stretch from it being "redeveloped" into a 24 to it's sitting in the front of the lot where cars are delivered and we just didn't see it. Loooooong stretch.

Wow! I'm glad you got it 👍

It makes a huge difference going in with knowledge and not buying their BS.

If you had waited another couple of days it would have been long gone!

My guess is they sold it, and because you, (an informed buyer), showed up, they will have to tell the other buyer some BS story. Had you waited even a day or so, you would be the one they would be saying " so sorry" to!

I think they were planning on using the same excuse as the dealer used who was on the news
