Just got my 2024 maverick xl and noticed that it doesn't turn on and off at stop lights do you have to turn the auto stop on or is my not working right. Really happy it doesn't work because I think it's the stupidest thing ever. But anyway is mine broken or what

Very normal for it to not work right away after starting and driving the vehicle for the first 5 minutes or so. The battery needs to build a charge and maintain it in order to use auto stop start. I turned it off in forscan because I did not like having to click the button everytime I drove it to turn it off. I enjoy having it disabled.

Mine is on automatically but I push the button to turn it off as I don't trust that it's not hard on the battery and starter. Even with mine running all the time I still get over 22 mpg in town.

I have found that I must push firmly on the brake and hold it down firmly. Also, you can’t have the AC running on high.

Start/Stop doesn't turn on unless the engine reaches a minimum operating temperature, and even then there's a list of parameters (non-hybrid), which include battery state of charge, mode (tow/haul will deactivate it), something plugged into the trailer hitch connector, you're not pressing the brake pedal down sufficiently, and climate control settings (defrost for example).

Provided the CEL isn't lit, probably not an problem.

Any chance the button controlling the Start/Stop is lit on the panel? - The option can also be turned off by Forscan and presumably the dealer software, but they need permission to override it. (Similar to 'dark' mode, to stop the lights from coming on when opening a door, used by some law enforcement vehicles).

From the owners manual on or around page 170. It can also be found in the table of contents under "Auto-Start-Stop-Gasoline".

Had the same issue. Mine quit within days of picking up my truck. About a month ago while doing the tail light recall the dealer checked the charging system and it was fine. Checked the battery and FAIL. Replaced with new Ford branded AGM and my auto start stop has been working ever since within the guidelines outlined by Ford.

Chances are you need a new battery. Go into your productivity screen settings, select Auto Stop and I'll bet you'll see it saying that the battery is charging or something to that effect. Mine said it all the time unless the temp was below 32F. Then it blamed the weather. :)

As said before there is a load of parameters that make the thing work. I noticed during the winter it barely shut off. Now that it's warming up its been working. Heated seats are still on but ambient temp is above 50. I've even noticed if you have any resistance on the steering wheel it won't work. When I watch the traffic lights and I know the light going to change I blip the throttle or rock the steering wheel to start it so there's no throttle delay when the light changes.

Had mine for over a year, and got 27-28 MPG routinely; actually flirted with 29 mpg a couple of times. Over the last month it slowly dropped to 26 mpg. I was concerned and then realized the engine didn't cut off at red lights etc any more. There's the answer! I'll take it in for fix. Interested to see what they find. Yes, I admit it; I'm an mpg freak. :)
