Yes, the vehicle computer just needs to be updated with the new tire size. I've never upped my tire size enough to bother though. I'd only go up around 1-1.5" and I just kept in mind that when on the highway I was going about 2mph faster than my speedo said.

NDL, the front end, in my opinion, is only a bit over done. I'm with you, or whoever, on the bezel. But consider all of the other wretched rigs out there. Santa Cruz, Camry,..etc. Could be a lot worse. The XL I'm getting will have the glare factor reduced. I just hope I can aim the LED headlights so they are not a public nuisance.

This little uni-body can't be everything. It's pretty remarkable for what it is. It's small and that is beautiful!

The Maverick is very handsome. I still can't get over the interior: it's simple, functional, durable, and easy to clean.

The prototype Santa Cruz was very attractive, but the finished product is far from my liking.

I'm tired of climbing into a truck like I'm climbing a tree.

Same. I had several larger trucks; most recently an '00 F-250 4x4 , 4" lift, 34s. I guess I looked cool driving it. But, the step-in height was 33". Basically like stepping onto a desk. The running boards dropped it to 22". Climbing in and out of that truck 30+ times a day was pretty tiring. And even with the lift, it's still lower than a stock 4x4 Alumiduty!

The other part was the blind spots. The semis I drove have hood mirrors. If I kept that F-250, I'd be tempted to do the same. I had blind spots immediately next to the front fenders; couldn't see cars there while stopped at a light. Also, parking nose-to-nose in a parking lot was basically impossible unless I had a front-facing camera.

I agree. I'm a fan of hard plastics and molded rubber on surfaces like the door panels and dash; it's a lot easier to clean than leather or soft-touch fabric.

Here is a tire size calculator that can tell you exactly what the speedometer error will be between original and replacement size. Looks like for 1.5" increase in tire diameter the speedo will indicate 60mph when real speed is 63mph. You were very close!

My reservation is for XL which has darker crossbar, and happy about that. Contrasts better with my Oxford White paint choice. Not sure how much work would be involved removing just the crossbar for painting but Plasti Dip treatment sounds interesting. I'd actually try to swap the XL grill with another anyways as design is too funky compared to other trims. YMMV

You can get spray Plastidip. A little careful masking and paint it right on the truck.

yeah, I've been using spray Plasti on dry cracked rubber motorcycle carb manifolds for years. never tried it on a part that was attached to anything and I couldn't hang it to get uniform coverage on all sides. this won't be a high priority anyways and figured I'd look into swapping out the grill at same time.

If someone prefers the higher step-in height of a body on frame pickup, then they should buy a body on frame pickup. If someone doesn't like the look of the Maverick then they shouldn't buy the Maverick. I'm not trying to be an ass, but I've seen so many posts, in various places, about things like this and I don't get it.

Ford was pretty upfront about what this truck is and who it's designed for. If I'm going out rock climbing, or for some hard core off-roading, then the Maverick isn't my chariot of choice. In that case I'll take a Ranger/Tacoma/Colorado/F150/etc... If I need something to drive around the city or suburbs, make a trash or home improvement store run, then hands down I'd take the Mav.

This wont be my first truck, and probably won't be my last, and I'm certain it'll handle everything I need from it. I don't need Moab levels of trail running, just something I can drive on a beach (with recovery gear and AT's) from time to time. I don't need to tow a bajillion pounds, just a small utility trailer every now and then. If I have those heavier needs in the future I'll look towards vehicle solutions that can deliver that to me, otherwise I'll be just fine with my little "trucklette" and the gas savings that it can generate me.

I like this small truck. Me and the wife were looking for old rangers as a gas saver for a couple of years. This is almost identical in size to them. I am keeping my big truck for big jobs but this is the gad saver I wanted. And at 23k out the door its the price I wanted.

There was a post on here yesterday of a Mav side by side a car and that was what I noticed was they were essentially the same height. After riding around in a FX4 F150 for 18 years worth, i feel like this is going to be an adjustment for me sitting much lower than i'm used to. Likely will feel like my butt is dragging on the ground like i do when i rent a car. I suppose if it bothers me that much i can always customize it with an after market 6 inch lift or something.

I agree it looks low, almost like a truck someone dropped 2 inches or something. Part of that is coming from the fact its really a very low height vehicle. The Maverick is only 68 inches tall, which is the same height of my AWD RAV4. Ford bulked up the front a bit to make it look like a truck, but by not raising the actual height of the vehicle, it looks lowered.

I'm not a huge fan of the lowered look, but the pros far out weigh the cons. Looks are maybe only 5% of the reason I buy a vehicle. If it bothers you, putting on a 1.5-2 inch lift kit would probably make it look more like a normal truck height. I know nothing about aerodynamic design and how it affects fuel efficiency, but I do wonder if keeping the truck lower was done to help the MPGs as well.

Yeah, I'll agree with ya on the front. It was always going to look more SUV-like, but I'm not a huge fan of the silver bar that goes across the front. It's kind of like the brown seats on the Lariat...I don't love it, but I'll live with it.

Yep! That silver bar will be replaced with a "Raptor" style bar as soon as they're available!

I think it sits too high but then again I've been driving a 2wd Silverado that's been lowered 4" in the front and 6" in the rear for the last 17 years....
