I have a keyless entry on my 22XLT FX4 and haven't used it once in a year and forgot the code. I've told this story before, my truck locks with engine running when I get out, dealer said its normal, [that's insane and can't be true] My phone in vehicle running truck and am outside looking in, long story short my dog was in the truck and had window open enough for one of my skinny friends to get back in. DONT FORGET YOUR CODE. I will address the problem on my next oil change CAN'T BE NORMAL.
What was the remedy?

As of now I haven't returned to dealer, I don't get out of the truck while running and have reset my key code so I can get in the vehicle if I do forget, I will also take my phone with me and leave the driver's window open. When I get my next oil change I will address the problem again with my dealer. This is not normal.

Sorry Sonny don't remember but it was very easy you need both set of keys, theres a few videos on utube just search it, takes no time. Use something easy that you're not going to forget 5 digits like old zip code

I am curious about this option. I know people who have had it it on Ford vehicles and they say they never use it. Maybe I don't understand the function but please tell me what the advantage is. My 2024 will unlock the door with my hand if the fob is in my pocket. Is it in case you lock the fob in the truck?
If you're somewhere and don't want to take your fob/phone with you (beach, bike riding, etc), you can lock those in the car, and just unlock with the pin. Also, have been at events with friends where we keep stuff in the truck, and any of us could go to the truck and unlock to grab stuff out of it. I had on an F150 before and i got in the habit of always using it to lock/unlock and never took my fob out of the truck.

Thanks for the reply. That answers another question. You can lock the fob in the truck. I hate that it is possible. I will get back into the habit of never taking it out of my pocket. Here is why I never leave it in the vehicle. Insurance will not pay your claim when the window gets broken out and they drive off with your vehicle because you left the keys in the vehicle. Just my preference to never leave them in the vehicle.
You got me wondering about that, so i just did some research, and it looks like as long as you have comprehensive coverage, a theft is covered even if you leave the keys in the car. It's even covered if you leave the car running. I didn't call my agent, but searched google and specifically saw info from State Farm and Progressive that stated it is fully covered.

I use it quite often while doing chores outside. I'll invariably will leave the keys in the house and I will need something from inside the truck or the bed. I realized how much I missed it when my battery operated one on my Ranger failed and could not get a new one as they discontinued the old school key pad and Ford was unable to program the new style one as my truck was too old.

I used to always hide my keys in a false bottom I created in my console when I went running, so it came in very handy there as well.
