Installed the Mabett Rear Window Vents

Got a set of these and wanted to express my thoughts for anyone thinking about doing the same. These go in and out in a minute with almost zero effort. They fit perfectly and match the factory black very well. I like that there's a screen behind them to keep the bugs out. The build quality seems very well and these can probably remain installed for long periods of time. As for performance, they certainly let the fresh air in and don't many any of that annoying helicopter noice. I like 'em..

Honest questions. What's the use case for these? Just when you need a little extra ventilation doing errands? More when on the highway? I see you both also have the over-window setup, too. Is there a benefit or con to one vs the other? Do you need both to get the best use?

I assume it's not much in the way of security, so I'm just curious what the scenarios you use them are since you'd be taking them off, I'd assume, when out in public and letting the vehicle sit for a while.

New to the truck life so don't know what summer airflow looks like.

EGR, however I just replaced them with Maxzina's in channel for safety reasons. The EGR are so thick it makes the "A" pillar a huge blind spot and also blocks the side mirrors. I don't recommend EGR's.

Since we have a small dog, it's going to be piece of mind to have them in the windows for rear seat ventilation with no chance of escaping as she's a jumper. They'll also be good in the rain. The over the top setup only allows the windows to go down a few inches in the rain.
As for security, I'm sure someone could knock them out but what would they do with a rear window down six inches? There are no door unlock buttons in the rear and the door handle won't work from the inside if the doors are locked.
That said, these will be great in the summer and leaving in all season to let the heat out when parked. They're a snap to take out if need be, and take up very little space to store.
Finally, I think they look good.

Not at all. These are very well made and I don't forsee any issues of warping, fading, or cracking. That's just my opinion however, and I'm no expert in plastics..

• ventilation while parked for dogs, sleeping in the cab, etc.
• ventilation in the rain without water entry, in motion or parked
• ventilation while driving and not having to deal with the buffeting of air that you normally get with the rear windows cracked
• ventilation without the possibility of bugs flying into the cab at any time

IMO, the main benefits of this over the other type is that they're temporary and screen out bugs. Having both provides no additional benefit that I can see. My use cases don't require vent shades to be mounted to the vehicle at all times, but these will come in handy on many occasions.

I don't expect any sun damage, but only time will tell. I will coat mine with UV protectant just as I do any exterior plastics.

It's getting the point where it seems the least amount of money I spent on the truck was when I bought it.

I had the same thought when Mabett came out with these, but in use they're plenty stout. There are other similar ones on Amazon made of aluminum.

Nice to see they do work with the EGRs, even if you did end up swapping them out. I've been contemplating trimming the corner to just before the bend to clear the blind spot a bit, leaving enough to hopefully not compromise strength.
