Hard to believe people pay $100 for the thrill of wasting gas at red lights.
I already purchased this in the hopes of eventually getting my maverick delivered.

Sign me up, I’ll gladly pay the 100 for the thrill of wasting gas at red lights to not stop a turbo from being cooled when hot at a stop light.

Absolute worst thing you can do with a turbo engine is turn it off and on frequently, in my mind.

This is pretty old school thinking. Most modern turbochargers like the borg warner in the ecoboost are a) water cooled, the ecoboost even has an auxiliary electric water pump pushing coolant through the system and turbo to remove heat even when the car is not running, like during an auto stop situation and b) most modern turbos like the borg warner unit in the 2.0 ecoboost use ball bearings on the shaft and don't primarily rely on oil for complete lubrication and cooling. When you shut down your ecoboost the coolant is stull running through the system via that electric pump so the coolant is really bleeding away the heat, not your oil and you don't have to worry about the oil coking up and baking in.

Yep the electric water pump helps to cool the turbo when it shuts off but I’ll still subscribe to wanting my turbo to have oil pressure/cooling.
Like I said, sign me up, you do you.

Just putting this info out there so people don't think that there could be a problem with the start stop system damaging their turbo and as a result they might think they need to spend a ridiculous amount of money on something they can take 2 seconds of their time to do manually if they want to but don't need to do.

I drove a loaner Subaru for 3 months and put nearly 5k miles on it. The dash had a tracker for how much gas was actually saved during that time. It was less that 1 gallon. Idling for an extra couple minutes on your daily commute is not wasting as much gas as it would seem. Totally useless feature.

What is the advantage of turning off the auto stop?

Having driven vehicles that would hard start or have starter wiring issues? It's about not having to worry about whether or not it's going to leave me stranded, or wasting a whole green light cranking.

I get that we're talking new cars, but they won't be new forever.

Just an update. This has been working seamlessly since install. I have literally forgotten about the button until I saw this post pop up again today. Great there is an option for this and I’m averaging around 28.3 mpg with it disabled.

Thanks for your post! Did you have an easy time removing the connector on the back side of the DLC plug? I cant seem to pull it out.
Yes it's just a push tab , may need a pick to do it if hard plus wiggle it a bit at same time .

For those of you installing the device, use a a small adjustable wrench to help you "wiggle" the plug out. Try not to disturb the wires.

You are correct. The turbos get so hot that the oil will start to coke and in hotter climates could give problems eventually. I have personally seen this on airplanes when the pilot comes in hot, taxis to park and immediately shuts the engines down without idling for a time to cool the turbos.
