Has anyone had any luck getting older iPods to play on their radio or hooking up flash drives (up to a terabyte) into the USB ports and be able to play em? My first gen iPod touch says device unsupported when I plug that in. There’s no aux Jack that I see. I’m pigeonholed into only using Apple Music on my phone, streaming into the truck.

Buy a new one.......
Problem is the lone remaining iPod available, the Touch, is not compatible with Carplay so it's as about as useless as a first gen iPod. Ask me how I know. 😑

It would be better to find a used iPhone that runs the correct generation IOS and use that for the Mav's music source.

I have purchased two different analog 3.5 mm Aux output to digital USB-C input adapters and neither worked for my old iPods, a black 5th Gen. classic and 2nd Gen. iPod touch. I have a bluetooth transmitter but I lose my flip phone pairing on the truck when trying to pair the transmitter. I'm thinking about trying a bluetooth receiver to paid with the transmitter hoping it does not interfere with the Phone's bluetooth connection.

Someone mentioned a $100 bluetooth adapter, but I'm not that desperate since I have SiriusXM through an old 2003/2005 Xact XM radio. I'm waiting on a fuse tap to complete my Commander Touch through direct in-line FM adapter (FMDA25). Amazon says it'll arrive today by 9PM.

Now, where did I put that bluetooth receiver? I know I had it a short time ago (2009).

I was actually able to turn on my iPod touch’s Bluetooth and pair it with the truck despite it being a 2009 first gen. Sounds great but only translates the play/pause, next/precious track controls to the fords radio. Control everything else on the iPod itself. I ordered a new 256gig thumb drive to load tunes on and plug into the usb on the ford. Has anyone tried that? Seems like the best option besides streaming with my phone.

I read a link last night somewhere on this Forum, I think under Audio (in the search top right just type in "USB songs") there is a post where a guy said he had hundreds of his favorite song on a USB drive and took it to his dealer who had a Maverick on the lot, and he let him plug it in to make sure it worked in the Maverick, and it did!

Totally figured it out! You can have album folders but that’s it. No deeper than that and it works perfectly . No artist folders>album folders

I tried a 32GB thumb drive on a Maverick XLT that the dealer had and it worked fine. It was the thumb drive we use in our 2015 Edge. (I tried to go to 256GB in the Edge and it would not recognize it.)
The Edge plays MP3 and M4A.
I did not try navigating the directory structure on the drive while in the Maverick, though the Edge is able to that. I put directories on the drive for different music types, like Christmas, Classical, Pod casts, Audiobooks......
If you want to listen to audiobooks, I recommend using a phone in order to keep your place in the book. Otherwise you will be fast forwarding alot.........

I'm planning on using a 64TB thumb drive connected to the USB port. I don't know the specs for these data ports which are definitely not in the Maverick manual. I would venture to guess you could go as high as a 256GB thumb drive. Note that a thumb drive connected to a USB port gives you the ability to play music using voice commands, without a phone connected.

I wish it had an input jack. That's the simple solution.
