It would only cost a grand and a road trip to save +/- $2k - not how everyone wants to spend their own time though - you could also open up a points credit card and use the new user rewards for some of the trip costs. I bought my wife's car in Seattle and drove it back to Minnesota, used points for the flight and hotels, cost me food and gas - this was a year ago so I think the flight was about $100 bucks too - a great quiet road trip across the northern states! Also saved about $3k on the car.Buying a car on the other side of the country would defeat any cost savings getting it back to California. It's a shame there's not a dealer on the west coast offering a similar deal with great service.
