Here’s something for you to consider here folks.

Those of you who have ordered the hybrid should consider the amount of money you are going to save on the purchase price of you vehicle, if they are ‘bought’ after the bill in the house is passed. It provides as much as $12,500 for EV and Hybrids vehicle purchases.

I’ld be happy to a few months to get my truck for half price.
It has to be a plug-in hybrid to get any credit and it has to be built by an American union shop to get the full $12.5K. The hybrid Mav does not plug in and is built in Mexico. There's no tax credit for this car.

Like it says in title, why is this.i guess i just don’t understand but the truck has to have a engine.when they cant supply the standard engine how can the company charge you for a motor?
The reason the EcoBoost costs more is because Ford priced the EB as an "upgrade." This is the FIRST time a car company, that I know of, has offered the hybrid as a base engine and a gas engine as the upgrade.

I honestly do not know why Ford offered the hybrid as the cheaper powertrain. I'm guessing Ford priced the EB as a $2k upgrade while limiting hybrids to 35-40% of sales is to balance out the production costs of the power train while offering such a low price-point for the hybrid.

Regular hybrids used to get tax credits up to a specific number of sales and for a limited number of years. Hybrids are so common now that they haven't carried tax credits since before I bought my first one in 2008. Plug in hybrids and full electric vehicles get robust rebates currently, but that'll likely expire for the plug-ins over the next 5 years. I'm not aware of any requirement that any of these vehicles be built in the US.

Agreed...and balancing CAFE average helps.

Does anyone think Ford should shuffle engine choices/costs around for 2023 models?
Probably not; they are selling everything they produce.

PHEV, ST, and Rattler all seem so far away...and the 12" screen, too.

We can currently claim up to $7500 in federal tax credits for EVs and plug-ins. What's being proposed is an additional $5K for those built in the US.

The impatience amuses me. I too am impatient but I'm not going to harass Ford or conspire with theories or go dealer to dealer searching for a truck.

I think this question would be different if the sales were locked in, etc.. but as others have posted most people have at most a deposit and would certainly get that bad if Ford decided they couldn't deliver the hybrid.

I do find it interesting that the question appears to focus on substitution of equal or greater value. How it's obvious that Ford can charge more for the EcoBoost but I don't think that makes it a better value.

If Ford came out said we can't do the Hybrid and will stitch them over to EcoBoost at the same cost I wouldn't be upset but would be disappointed. If they offer to switch them over for the 'upgrade' cost I would probably drop from LXT with lux to LX and also add the all wheel drive which would leave me close to the same price.

If my order was switched from hybrid to EcoBoost I would cancel. I specifically want a hybrid.

Well i told you I didn’t understand.it just seems to me if they can’t supply the standard motor for say 2 months seems to me they should have to put another motor in at no charge as the standard motor.
They promised you no arrival date when you ordered your truck. You are free if you dont want to wait (as others have) to change your preference on engine.

Plus, I got my window sticker for my hybrid in production. Under "Optional Equipment/Other" a line item says "50 State Emissions No Charge" I doubt they would have been able to include that on the sticker if it was not already complete.
All that means is that it WILL be 50 State Emissions certified. Not that they currently have all the certifications. Plus in reality 50 state emissions just means the other 49 states combined plus California.

California has stricter emissions standards and not all vehicles are legal to sell/register there.

The tracker normally shows in production a few days before your actual build date. This earlier date usually corresponds to your blend date on your window sticker.
