If Ford pull this off my Mav will be short lived and the Lightning will be in my yard.

That's a great comment. I do not see how, in this go,go,go, society how anyone would take a 1/2 hour to charge a vehicle. Can you imagine a cross country trip and 3 hours more to total time just because of the charging stops! Just my opinion but all our time and money should be advancing Hybrid technology.
I’ve driven a Tesla from Manhattan NY to Seaside, OR. It’s really not much different. Yes you have to stop and charge but they’re welcome stops. If you plan right, you leave your EV friendly hotel with a full charge, that helps a lot. By the time you drive 300 miles and need juice, you’re ready for a snack, stretch, etc. and by the time that is done, you’re also done charging. Granted, yea, there are times where you have to sit and wait but they are few & far + half the fun of a road trip we forget about by that go go go mentality

I owned an EV for a little over two years and made 7 hour trips twice a month. I normally stop every 2.5–3 hours for a break so I would stop for a bathroom break, plug in my EV, let my dog out to go and the charging would be done, 20-25 minutes. It was only one charge per trip so it was perfect! I sold my EV in Jan because of the battery recalls, it was worth more than I paid and I wanted a little bit larger vehicle, hence my Mav hybrid And $$ in my pocket. If the Mav had been available as an EV I would have bought that in a heartbeat! Love EVs!

I still think developing easily swappable batteries is where it's at. Then, go to the battery station and swap it out, or charge at home overnight. The need to bolt the batteries to the bottom of the car and develop an automatic system where the car drives over a bay, the battery lowers and a new one is raised. The car drives off and the battery station employee places the battery on a large underground charging rack.
I remember reading this idea years ago and an stunned almost every day that we don't have a swappable battery IEEE standard. China just adopted one https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/china-ev-swappable-battery-standards-approved/
