I think my Ecoboost has only averaged 20 mpg since August 😬

I think for those short trips all electric is best, I just got done with 1400 mi. trip and I wish this thing had more battery power or a bigger tank, 34 something going and 29 something coming back. Speed was slow as 40 and as high as 92, tried to keep it to 75

So unless you drive a lot…a hybrid wouldn’t really help very much?
Drive less than 6,000 miles a yr
Very short trips to work…. Like a 2 miles😁

Give me your thoughts and opinions

I have the 24 eco… but I am intrigued about a hybrid
6000 miles is still enough to work out the math. Just think that the 2 miles to work and back will be 90% electric because the city mileage is much better than HWY. So basically sipping gas from a straw and less wear and tear on the engine. Given the Iran debacle, Hybrid is the option for most. Toyota is the proof.

I get 1-2 miles out of a fully charged high voltage battery (HVB) depending on terrain and speed before it depletes. 1.5 miles is a good average distance for a fully charged HVB to consider for your purposes.

On 50/50 moderate speed highways and local roads without substantial elevation changes I can get 50mpg with careful driving in the warmer months. That will drop to 35-40mpg below 40F.

It's worthwhile to let the hybrid remote start idle for 10-15 minutes in the colder months, it's a very efficient idler and you'll come out to a warm vehicle and much improved MPG.

With my trade in I would have to make up roughly $5,000
Maybe I should wait another year while I pay down my Ecoboost

I usually make the wrong decisions though

25 hybrid with 900 miles fwd
Wants 31,000
Certified with an additional 1 year to bumper to bumper warranty…plus 7yr 100,000 miles power train warranty

That’s interesting
You happy you got the hybrid then I assume

Just wonder if it would be worth it for me
I don’t drive fast anymore
I drive for efficiency myself but the hybrid isn't really a slouch, especially at low speeds. I've had both the EB and hybrid Maverick and enjoyed both but the low fuel consumption of the hybrid is great. And that smooth eCVT is nice too. They talk about the AWD but I'm happy with the FWD and snow tires. You'll find the hybrid very adequate as far as power goes.
And, no electrical/ battery problems in three years for me.

Hmm.. It's a unique kind of regional thing up here That led me to my hybrid.. I retired my Ranger 3.0 after 20 years of service (and 18mpg) When gas was at $1.30 CAD/l ($4.82 USD/US Gal). Currently it's now $1.83 CAD/L ($6.91 USD/US Gal). I drive anywhere from 2-3000km a month And a few times a year that can jump up to 5000-8000km.

So for me its a no brainer, hybrid saves me money but only because this is the first and only vehicle I've seen where they hybrid and gasoline variants are the same price.

I test drove a lobo before settling on my hybrid. And the lobo was such a riot Im sure I would be in jail. So another point for the hybrid. I average about 6.2L/100km (38 US MPG) so compared to my ranger, I am over the moon with the performance of the hybrid.

I also considered briefly getting the Mach-E. Here's were the regional part comes in. Hydro (electricity) isn't very cheap in my province. I would have opted for the ER version. 91kw... Averaging about $0.30/kWh About $27 bucks to charge from empty. Still not bad eh?

Heres the kick in the junk about full electric where I am. There's no incentives at the moment to purchase one. You pay full price. My maverick cost $43,590... The Mach E extended range STARTS at $50,590. (Loonies). Then throw in a home charger, liscence for the charger and installation, $53,000.

$10,000 buys a lot of gasoline for a hybrid- even at these prices. So it really was a no brainer to get the mavvie. It's the best balance of versatility and economic choices for me in my situation!

If your EB is running fine, then stick with it IMO. It’s still a Maverick. Maybe your next vehicle (I assume probably) will be a hybrid but throwing money away between two new(ish) vehicles doesn’t seem worth it to me.
why is there a hybrid for sale with 900 miles on it? Demo? Problem? Only car I ever returned so quickly needed a transmission a couple months after purchase and it was new.

I got the Hybrid because that's what I wanted, but when I was building them online I found that the EB and hybrid had the same base price, but the EB got a 502A discount of over $2k on the sticker. The hybrid only gets the 501A package. Today on Ford.com I checked and the base price of a Lariat with the EB is over $2k less than the hybrid and there is no package discount. I feel like Ford tries to hide the cost-up on the hybrid.

Honestly, they probably do! I wonder if it's because they have overstock on some powertrains, or if it's because they can make more coins on hybrids when gas prices are up vs when it's down.
