Hello Ford,

I am writing to express my deep concern and dissatisfaction with the persistent hybrid system problems I have encountered with my 2023 Ford Maverick. These issues, evidenced by diagnostic trouble codes P0811, P0E71, and C0A00, have not only resulted in a significant loss of vehicle power and safety on the road but also point to a broader pattern of unresolved defects within the Maverick's hybrid technology.

Specifically, the vehicle experienced a sudden and alarming loss of power during acceleration, forcing me to pull over, shut down, and restart the engine before being able to continue driving. Upon taking the vehicle to my local Ford dealership, I was dismayed to find that only one of the three diagnostic codes, P0811 (Excessive Clutch A Slippage), was acknowledged. The remaining codes, P0E71 (Hybrid Powertrain Control Module Internal Performance) and C0A00 (Motor Electronics Coolant Pump "A" Control Circuit Open), which could be critically related to the vehicle's power loss incident, were inexplicably ignored.

This selective approach to diagnostics, coupled with the dealership's premature recommendation for a clutch replacement without a comprehensive assessment of the interconnected hybrid system components, is deeply troubling. It suggests a lack of due diligence in addressing the root cause of the problem and raises serious concerns about the adequacy of training and technical support provided to Ford service technicians.

Furthermore, extensive research and reports from fellow Maverick owners reveal a recurring pattern of similar hybrid system malfunctions, indicating a potential systemic design flaw or manufacturing defect that Ford has yet to acknowledge or rectify. These documented issues include:

  • Premature clutch wear and failure
  • Hybrid Powertrain Control Module malfunctions
  • Electric motor cooling system deficiencies
I urge Ford Motor Company to take immediate and decisive action to address these widespread hybrid system problems in the 2023 Maverick. This includes:

  • Conducting a thorough investigation into the root causes of these recurring issues.
  • Providing comprehensive technical service bulletins and training to dealerships to ensure accurate diagnosis and repair.
  • Offering extended warranty coverage or recalls to rectify these defects and restore customer confidence in the Maverick's hybrid technology.
I look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution to these concerns.

If anyone else wants to join me address there grievances to Ford please chime in. Just to let everyone know that the Ford extended warranty will not save you. They will not cover any of these items listed above. Ask me how I know.

Yep, better to send it to Ford and have them send it into their yawning chasm of complaint ether.

To be fair, they used to monitor the forum and used to at least claim to care and claim to help. But even that is a questionable statement.

Everyone that are having the same issues needs to write a complaint to NHTSA and FTC. Ford does not give a rats ass.

The most relevant federal agency to address your issue with your 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle

Here's why:

  • Vehicle Safety:NHTSA is responsible for regulating vehicle safety standards and investigating potential safety defects in motor vehicles. Your experience with sudden power loss while driving poses a significant safety risk, and NHTSA has the authority to investigate such issues and potentially initiate recalls if necessary.

  • Consumer Complaints:NHTSA collects and analyzes consumer complaints about vehicle safety issues. By filing a complaint with NHTSA, you contribute to their data on potential problems with the Ford Maverick Hybrid, which can lead to investigations and ultimately, solutions for affected owners.
How to file a complaint with NHTSA:

  1. Online: Visit the NHTSA website and use their online complaint form: [invalid URL removed]
  2. Phone:Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
In addition to NHTSA, you may also consider contacting:

  • Federal Trade Commission (FTC): While the FTC primarily focuses on consumer protection and antitrust issues, they can also be helpful in cases involving potential deceptive practices or warranties. If you believe Ford is not adequately addressing a known defect or misleading consumers about the reliability of their hybrid system, you can file a complaint with the FTC.
By reporting your issue to these agencies, you not only help yourself but also contribute to protecting other consumers from potentially dangerous vehicle defects.

What's really interesting is that I stumbled onto a Reddit thread just today where one of the posts was a 2025 hybrid owner talking about how his truck melted down with error codes at 400 miles and had to be towed. Another guy on that same thread (dunno if it was hybrid or ecoboost) had his 2025 Maverick die on the interstate on ramp during a test drive.

I held my head in my hands, because I had commented a few hours ago on another thread, wondering if the 2025s would show increased quality because of Ford's quality push.

Hey, I'm not pushing a narrative. I believe half of half of half of what I read online. Happy with my Maverick.

Sudden loss of power is a safety issue. File a report with the NHTSA.gov. [Hopefully DOGE won't emasculate that agency]

2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD. Sudden loss of engine power under full throttle after about 4 to 6 seconds. Not a traction control event as I was between 35 and 45mph each time. Event lasts about 2 to 3 seconds. Has occurred four times now in two weeks. I'll make a video for Ford and check for codes. No check engine light nor abnormal dash indication.

Hope it didn't have anything to do with that wiring harness you waited so long for. Then again, maybe that would be a better reason for this issue.??

I doubt that a 3' long parking sensor harness with the front grille camera harness incorporated into it could cause the ICE to drop out completely, but hey, I'll keep an open mind.
