If it has been asked before, I have not seen but.....

Are any of the hybrid problems being reported in all the different threads happening shortly after recalls that require software flash/reprogram and the owner used forscan to tweak settings in the truck prior to the recall being performed?

Just curious to know if there is any possibility of a correlation (personally I don't think there should be), but....🤷‍♂️ ?

I had an issue after the software update/recall, and I've never used Forscan. Truck was fine the rest of the day, then the next morning it crapped out. April 11 will make four weeks it's been at the dealer, and Ford has yet to let them know how to proceed. At least they provided a loaner so I can get around in the meantime.

I have never used forscan either, but also never had any recalls done on my 2023 XLT and likely never will do any of them, ever. I have zero issues for 11 months and 7000+ miles.

Since the recent software update recalls being done and all the reports out there, that has scared me away from ever making any software changes since it works fine now. I have autoupdates off and wifi off on my truck. I lock my truck when at home or work. I have the factor Ford battery and never deep sleep (yet).

The original premise of the question was if there was any anecdotal correlation between using Forscan and post-factory software updates. So far answer is no.

That totally blows! Make a lemon claim. You don’t have to accept the buyback. I got $5k and my truck fixed.

3/28/24 – My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid’s engine shut down and lost acceleration, driving about 80 miles an hour on a major highway going through hills about 100 miles into a 400-mile trip. I just crossed into PA from MD on Rt. 70 heading west, I was going down some hills and the truck picked up speed, going over 80 mph or so, then when I started going uphill the truck displayed a bunch of dashboard alerts as it soon lost all acceleration and would only drive slowly in Electric mode. I pulled over and tried again, but it was stuck in electric mode with barely any acceleration and displayed Check engine, service vehicle, bring to dealer, etc. and a few other alerts. I shut off the engine and tried it again 5 min later, and it was still in electric mode. I shut it off again and waited around 15 minutes while trying to get roadside service using my Ford App, which showed local dealers, but I could not find any towing service. Then, apparently, after the truck cooled down, it started up fine, and I could drive it, but now I decided to return home vs. chancing more issues, which I’m glad I did as the engine shut down again after about an hour displaying the same dashboard alerts seen earlier. I pulled way over, shut everything down, and waited 10 minutes or so, and it started and ran fine to get me home in 30 min or so. It's now with the dealer, over 7 days now, and hopefully, It will have a happy ending.

2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Pickup Truck, 3FTTW8E35NRA91402, no accidents or incidents.

10/2/23 9,467 miles oil change at Koons Ford Baltimore where I purchased it at in Nov 2022

2/12/24 12,777 miles for 3 safety recalls, software updates, 23E07, 23E09, 23C41, which took over 6-hours

3/28/24 13,460 miles - Vehicle Health Report – All systems checked show Green and Good

3/28/24 14,050 miles - engine shuts down, twice, after 1.5 hrs, than 1 hr, several service alerts, electric driving

Several reported incidents of Ford Mavericks losing power when the engine shut down.

Appreciate any suggestions I can pass on to the Koons Ford Dealer

Just got a call from the Koons dealer. They fixed my 2022 Hybrid Lariat that's been there for eight days today. They think it was the Smart junction box that they replaced. They drove it for 70 miles with no issues and hope this fixes it. I hope so to and will let everyone know when I do, say sometime in May or so after some long trips driving 70+.

Thanks for sharing @joewdunbar! The MTC community is rooting for you. 🤞🏼

I’m in a simlar situation as you and am planning to drive the Mav across the country (and back) in the summer. I can’t have my rig just shutdown and held at the dealer because it will also be my house during the trip.

One helpful suggestion on threads like this,. Say WHICH recall you had done . Right now i have the light bulb recall and the gauge cluster recall on my 2023 XLT Hybrid. NOT done either. Not sure i ever will.

Ok, with what I have seen on this site. The issue tends to be a recall that is specific to certain VIN#'s. My VIN# needed only the Cluster and Taillight recall, NOT the PCM recall. My Maverick has not had the issue of dying, stalling or going into a "red alert" dash display of any type. This issues seems to hit hard 2022 hybrids to mid-year 2023 VIN#'s. My build was in August of 2023.

With that being said, I haven't seen in here (MaverickTruckClub) the cluster and tailight recall causing this shut down. It is the PCM recall for specific VIN#'s 2022-to mid 2023 Hybrids that has been affected. This is my unscientific opinion. But I have been following this closely. Others may have seen differently.

I picked up my 2022 Maverick Hybrid from the dealer today (they had it for eight days) showing they tested for the loss of power problem and replaced the Smart Junction Box aka the Battery Junction box they believed to be the culprit, road tested 121 miles and issue appears to be resolved. I couldn’t find anything about new or repeated software downloads that I thought they might also try. So time will tell if the Battery/Smart Junction box was in fact the culprit causing my truck to lose all power twice going 70+. See the service invoice attached.

4/17/24 update - Ford is recalling 450k SUVs (Broncos) and Trucks (Mavericks) because they could lose driving power. Also attached is a clearer image of my repair order;

Downloaded your photo. Still to small to read and when I made the photo larger, it got even more blurry.
