Ford Maverick hybrid power meter 2022 Maverick Hybrid MPG Display Gauge Electric Mode 2

I was looking at this picture and wondered, "what is that power dial, how does that work?

I found this video that explains a similar but older escape hybrid.

I think the ev mode potential is higher on the Mav, but I also think this may give us a good idea if the behavior.

This EV all new to me.
Me too... That's why when I saw the dash pictures recently posted, I thought "what is THAT?!?"

watching the video of one in action helped me understand.

The C-max/fusion twins have multiple power meters available in the menus that present the data in slightly different ways.

Basically, think of it as a tachometer for the EV side. The biggest difference is the flow of power goes into two directions: out (or up the scale) to the wheels under acceleration/cruise and in (or down the scale) to the battery when decelerating.

Toyota hybrids are slightly different. No tach, just the power meter. It gives feedback on how much power the driver is asking for. There is a separate EV button, where the driver can anticipate conditions, and ask for electric only. But the computer will always be in charge.
You can learn about hybrid cheats, so to speak. Look up pulse and glide on hybrids. There are a few techniques for getting very high mileage, my daughter has a corolla hybrid that regularly gets 60 to 65 mpg

This picture looks like an analog plug-in dash display. No idea what generation. The video is one of the original Escape Hybrids, pre-2013. My experience started with a 2013 C-Max/Gen 3.

Gen 4 analog dash photos I've seen look very different from this video, more like the photo. My 2020 Escape Hybrid has the digital dash. I'm told the power numbers have disappeared in 2021s. No "EV" button in either of mine. You use your right foot.

I’m like 95% certain that this was a preproduction dash, and the current hybrid dash displays a value in kilowatts.

I am still not clear. When the needle is in the green zone, is it showing the charge level? Meaning, if the needle is in the green zone and close to the top, does that signify the battery is at a high level of charge, or am I totally off base?

The Mavericks Power Gauge is very similar to the one in my Toyota Venza. Keep it in the eco zone and you will get great mileage. Keep it under 50% in the power zone and you will get very good mileage. Between 50-100% you will think it is a tach because the engine is revving a lot. Sort of like a tach.
