A bit of crow pie for the Ecoboost crowd who swore the hybrid wouldn't beat 33 mpg highway. Of course it's "only" an average of 58 mph, and any less than 90 mph will get you run down on their local anarchy autobahn.

I just wanted to share another new thing I experienced with my Truck. While I am starting to get used to the Hybrid driving and start to somehow like it, I had today an experience which was not that pleasant. I started the truck as it was pretty cold outside. The gas engine kicked in right at the beginning. I turned on the heater and drove about half a mile. As I was waiting at the red light, I had for the first time the gas engine idling but that was pretty awful. The engine was running quite roughly and once every 2 second it would rev slightly higher and the truck felt like it wanted to move forward but than it would immidiatly go back to idle. Wondering what it was and if anyone else has experienced something similar. Since we all wont experience the idle of the gas engine that often, I am wondering how long it will take to hear from someone about it.

We owned a Toyota Prius for six years! Best dang car we ever had! Very quiet and very smooth to drive! It had plenty of gitty up and go. The engine is much quieter than a regular engine that is continually running. Shifting was much smoother. Yes, it did regenerate during stops, but that's how you save on gas. We averaged over 50+ MPG in the city. What's not to love about that?

My hybrid Maverick won't be here until sometime in 2022, and I can't wait. I expect it will operate just like my old Prius!

I wanted to start this tread to exchange experiences and questions with other new Maverick hybrid owners. I feel there are some Maverick Hybrid specific things what are new to many of us and I think it would be great when we could exchange and share our experiences.

I am starting with the first question/experience. I already mentioned it in another tread: Hybrid is pretty new to me and I feel that the driving with this type of a vehicle is much more different than I had anticipated. All the weird noises (sometime I have the feeling something is wrong, because they are way too many different noises), the feeling that someone is constantly pushing the brakes while you are driving and not pushing the gas pedal, the static electricity each time I leave the car and touch any parts of the body and many more. I am wondering how other new owners see and feel the driving experience with this truck. At one point I really thought that the ride is really not fun because of all these regenerative things happening there. I defenitly want to drive in the S mode to see if I feel any differences but would love to hear from other new hybrid owners about their experiences. Thanks!
1,2,3,4 pause 1,2,3,4.... Click clack the sound of a relay goes.... I can be in my garage, truck in the driveway and off and it just click clacks....

Yes, me too. What the heck is going on. My 2001 Ranger didn’t have a key fob so I just thought this was “feature “ of the remote entry.

I just got my Hybrid after a one year wait from order date. I love it. The one thing that does take some getting use to for me is the feeling of the brakes sticking after you let off of them. When you come to a complete stop, then accelerate to take off it feels like a second or two lag time before the brakes fully release. I understand this is the regenerative charging system working, but feels strange.

Do you have auto brake hold on?
