I hope you are right, it,s probably the poor communication or the mixed communication and all the speculation, weekly changes and not knowing just how many Mavericks can be reduced this year. Without that knowledge, it is difficult to plan. I have a car coming off a Lease within 6 months and I'm getting a little jittery. Maybe it's all the Ford Bronco order insanity that's making me a little extra pessimistic. So basically you are telling me to take it easy, have a scotch or a pint and watch a sunset.......

We're going with beer on the patio, but we might upgrade to scotch next Thursday.

Or the third option would be cancel the order and look/buy elsewhere. I'm sure Ford doesn't want that, but I'm also sure it will happen in a few cases if the upcoming October production schedule e-mail does not cause happiness.

Dude, if there are limitations to Hybrid availability, it's not Ford trying to force customers into the EB builds. It's delays in ramping up the new motor/transmission and perhaps a miss on guessing the order mix.

Ford HAS to sell hybrids. They're a truck-only company with a product mix heavy with profitable, low mileage product. They are desperate to sell offsetting vehicles in order to meet current and future CAFE requirements. They NEED us to buy Hybrids!

The order mix heavily leans hybrid on this forum but we have no way of knowing if that is an anomaly; in the general public the Ecoboost may indeed be the majority choice. These types of things are heavily market researched. I have a son in market research and there are all sorts of scenarios that data is put through to arrive at a correct conclusion. Not saying that the data couldn’t be flawed, but if it is, Ford will make an adjustment. I ordered a hybrid myself and like everyone else I’m agonizing over the wait, but all this conjecture about forcing people to switch to an Ecoboost is just that... conjecture.

Ford cannot force anyone. The speculation is that the waiting and waiting will eventually gets some people to make a decision like that. If you didn't order the EB from the go and you need a truck now then bets are switching to the EB will have higher odds of being built sooner. For those willing to wait, Ford will indeed eventually build a Hybrid for them. I know my dealership has been calling those that ordered the Hybrid to let them know that it maybe a bit longer wait on the Hybrid and some have in fact switched to the EB for whatever reason that is person to their situation.

I'm determined and fortunately able to hold out. My lil 2012 Ford focus 5 speed (I intentionally avoided the dual clutch!) It's chugging right along.

I'm gonna hold out too, even if it ends up that my June ordered FE hybrid build isn't delivered until the Spring. The MPG is one of the top 3 reasons I'm getting the Maverick and it's one of the non-negotiable ones.

I ordered XL Hybrid with 360 and hitch on June 10th. Mine has been scheduled for the week of September 20th.

We have a neighbor who ordered a Maverick hybrid in late June who received his scheduling notification last Thursday. We are pretending to be happy for him.

Perfect thread title. I ordered 7/21 -- hybrid Lariat Lux with hard rollup tonneau

I am not in the situation of needing a relatively immediate replacement for my current vehicle. BUUT, my 2013 Insight has about 100k miles on it, and I've already had a warranty repaired major mechanical failure, about 30k miles ago. Also, I want some time to prepare for taking on a car payment, so I'm hoping my current ride holds-up, and I don't have to get the financing until at least mid-December.


Do you all think Ford misjudged how popular the hybrid version would be? Do you think it was a bait and switch maneuver to get people excited for the hybrid, only to pump extra cash out of their customers in funneling them towards the 2.0 turbo models?

What do y'all think are the reasons why Ford emphasized the hybrid only get put hard limits on hybrid production?

To put it another way...is the hybrid delay a bug, or a feature in the development life cycle?

I honestly think they got caught flat footed by the demand for the hybrid. None of the other manufacturers even made a hybrid. This is a niche I dont believe anyone thought existed. But Ford being the innovators they are gambled and have won big time. Just like the Lightning. 100k+ pre-ordered and that list grows everyday. Who would have though that these first year vehicles would out sell the full size GM truck on PREORDERS only? Ford literally tripped over a gold mine looking in areas the other dealers though was barren.

If Ford is really pausing Bronco Sport production at the Hermisillo plant next month, then that says something. That change means even more Mavericks can be assembled. Sure, it's really Van Dyke that is probably the hold up for our Hybrids, but at least Ford appears to be shuffling production around to satisfy demand. They could be doing other production re-shuffling that we're just not aware of (yet).
