I’m in Canada and the 2023 order banks are still open.

I can’t decide between the hybrid or the ecoboost. I love the idea of a hybrid for gas savings. However I live in the snow belt and we get a lot of snow and ice here. I’ve never had a FWD vehicle, but have driven plenty of them including in snow storms and usually they do fine 90% of the time.

I live in a smaller town and constantly drive 2 lane roads where speeds are 80km/h (50mph) and in town driving doing errands, etc. I would say I’m roughly 60% 2 lane country roads and 40% in town. Hardly ever drive in a big city with constant stop and go traffic and rarely ever on the freeway. I don’t know whether the hybrid will have a big increase in mpg over the ecoboost just based on the type of driving I do.

If it matters, I don’t really keep vehicles that long, I would say 5 years at most. I haul some things for work like lumber, insulation, renovation materials. I’d also pull a small 6x12 utility trailer every so often with those same materials and/or garbage. (Edit: hauling and towing wouldn’t be a daily occurrence, maybe 5-6 times a month, most times the bed would have maybe 100lbs of tools).

Hoping I can have some others chime in with their experience and give some advice.

I’m a wuss so the need to tow anything disqualifies the hybrid.

Even at those speeds the hybrid does fine for fuel efficiency, switching back and forth as it feels the need. Snow driving, cannot say how the hybrid does (only got it in July), but never had trouble with a FWD before, so I doubt it's any different with good tires.

That said, given that you use it for hauling stuff for work, I think the answer depends on how much you load up your utility trailer/bed. If you are often putting over 1200lbs in the bed/trailer, I think the ECO is the answer. The Hybrid can handle weight well enough, but if you are hauling all the time I suspect the ECO would be a better experience. Cannot say that for sure, haven't put more than 500lbs in the hybrid myself.

Given the small bed of the Maverick I think you'll find yourself using your trailer a lot more often.

Ecoboost with AWD and 4k seems like the right fit.

If it was me, hybrid all the way. But in your situation, I think Eco Boost with 4k towing and AWD would suite your needs better. And have a better chance of getting built.

Live in Utah, a state literally marketed for it's snow. FWD is all we've ever needed.

FWD w/snow tires are an option. If the weather is really bad and the roads are poor and steep then the ECO W/ AWD may be a better choice, which also allows you to order the tow packages. I live in AZ; but have a cabin at 6700 ft elev. FWD works just fine for the few snow trips that I make. Also the rest of the time I spend in a large Metro region; so it's a hybrid for me. Good luck; but only you can weigh the factors to consider in order to make a decision.

I was quite surprised how much the slippery mode mase last week. Between noon and 2 when I got out we had 5" of the white stuff. Pulled out in normal went a block and switched to slippery. It worked great.
Towing I to my 5' x 12' trailer all the time. The towing setting creates a lot of power. Another on order but who knows when I''ll get it. Was order 827.
