If your looking for the MPG obviously the hybrid is the way to go , however I had 2 hybrids and both I personally didn't care for due to the recalls and the breaks and the dead battery's and all the other stuff everyone complains about . With that being said there are folks with no issues with the hybrid. I'm currently happy with the AWD eco but I found that I really like the small truck aspect of the maverick more then the MPG.

Thanks for the information…
another hybrid fact-2024 hybrid will be an option-for $1500! so that tells me hybrids will become more valuable-hold their value better.I just got a EB AWD,after waiting too long for my ordered, dealer got this one in color I ordered,so I bought it.Now my ordered hybrid due in any day-told dealer I still want it--yes to resell, but dealer just told me sorry--cannot sell for (agreed upon) MSRP due to "market conditions" sent email to Ford-response sorry, unless you got prices in writing, dealer is independent-can sell for any price. but will go to dealer and argue my case

AWD is overated until you need it. Not everyone needs it.

The slip FWD leaves you with one wheel drive - in my circumstance I've gotten stuck in my drive during snow/ice storms with every front wheel car I've had (Hondas) - Wife has had the AWD's and never gotten stuck. So that little bit of comfort of not worrying about it - shoveling out and paying for a plow) during one season drove my decision over any MPG savings. Now if it never snowed again - still love the stability of this awd Maverick on loose gravel sells me . Until They change the drive system on the Hybrid I'm sticking with the turbo recycled dinosaur juice burning version ;) never will have a FWD vehicle of any kind on my radar...

Cheers
AWD may be used 2 days a year where I live. But during those 2 days I would pay ANYTHING for it.

More relevant to this thread - I have an ecoboost that has drastically surpassed my expectations. It's amazing. However the mpg's are closer to 26 for me since I drive less highway than I thought. Still I love this truck. Look forward to driving to work. It's absolutely amazing and we'll worth the wait

Thanks for the information and you are right about being lucky
Yes, being lucky (or not) is key to ownership satisfaction whichever model you decide. I have traditionally been extremely fortunate with vehicle reliability and overall ownership experiences. Not sure how it all went off the rails...

That said, when all was good, I loved the hybrid's efficiency and actually enjoyed driving it much more than I expected. I think I drew the short straw that many talk about when buying a first-year model. I was okay with that but found getting resolution to issues not possible.

Hopefully, many of the early issues are behind.

Mr Kingfish Robert - I agree with you! Per this video I posted, the avg driver of 15,000 miles will spend $67 more per month for a Mav AWD according to fueleconomy.gov, the entity that shows fuel consumption on all window stickers.

$1500 extra hybrid cost divided by $67 in hybrid fuel savings vs AWD = 22 months to recover the extra cost of buying a hybrid version.

If they pay another $5k ADM from a dealer just to get a hybrid:
$1500 + $5,000 = $6500 / $67 in fuel savings per month = 8 years to recover the extra cost vs buying an AWD at msrp.

You will have so much more fun vs the slow off the line hybrid. Add 4k tow even if you do not tow and the extra torque will make your Mav more like a race truck. Get a tune to over 300HP once the warranty is up and you will have a rally truck! You can't tune the hybrid motor.

Plus, you will get to more places in mud, snow, and washed out dirt roads in an AWD Mav.

No matter what people say about snow tires on a FWD, they will get stopped at chain control. With this huge snow year in Park City, even with our stock Conti tires, we never had to put chains on once.

Love the videos!

And I agree, paying 5k ADM JUST to save gas money on a hybrid doesn't make sense.

But +$1,500, it still does make sense for many medium to high mileage drivers. Me included. Especially when you add in lower maintenance costs which I believe the hybrid offers

As for off the line quickness, I've not felt cheated in the hybrid. It feels like it delivers instant power smoothly with no delay and no stutter between gears. To be fair, I'm not a speed demon and keep it less than 10 mph over speed limits.

AWD and future 300 HP are cool, but I haven't needed either one in the last 20+ years of driving.

Long story shorter, my usage still tips the scales towards the hybrid. But I wouldn't pay much more than $1,500 to get it vs. the EB (and maybe not even that much).

They are both great vehicles. I have not had any problems with either gas or hybrid. I couldn't tell you which I prefer at this point.

The price of gas keeps rising again. The more gas costs, the more I like the hybrid. But the EcoBoost is a lot of fun to drive. The EcoBoost replaced my 2004 Mustang GT convertible with stick shift. The EcoBoost feels faster to me and gets 50% better fuel economy than a V-8.

Your money, your choice. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Thanks for the love Robert! I started posting videos as an owner of both versions because I got tired of the same old walk arounds and test drives from people who don't really know al the details. Plus they make you stare at them most of the video. I hope to earn your sub and referrals.

Like you, I love my hybrid too. We mostly use for city mpg. But as a road trip vehicle with better passing power, our AWD's hwy mpg is not much different and can take us more places.

At 2 trucks for the price of one full size, get one of each if you can. Spread the miles they will last twice as long. Then you will have max mpg + max adventures.

You are one of the few with both versions too! Post some of your own videos like I do, I will sub Larry!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when members make decisions on what to buy based on complaints in this forum. I'm only guessing but Ford has sold what ???.....50,000 plus hybrids. Is that the number we see on this forum? Complainers complain, go to other vehicle forums the complainer normally out number's the positive people. It's human nature.
