Hello! First time poster.
Can I jump start another car with my hybrid, and how do I do it? Or is it not recommended. The manual only covers jump starting the Maverick.
Thanks for your input.🙂

I would not.

I haven't jumped another vehicle with mine ever since I jumped another vehicle with my '97 F-150. The next day I had to take my truck in and get a new alternator, plus some other electronic thing I don't recall the name of. Coincidence perhaps, but I don't think so.

Just buy a jump pack and use it. They're not ridiculously expensive, they're small, fit under the back seat and only need to be topped off once a year, or after using it. And much safer for your vehicle and trying to line up two vehicles so jumper cables can reach, in a crowded parking lot or along a busy roadway.

And if you ever need to jump your Hybrid or charge the 12v battery, use the Jump Points under the hood - driver's side.

The jump power pack you should get for yourself - should be used for others.

Thanks! I didn't think I should, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Good idea, thanks. I have never had any battery problems with the Mav. "Knock on wood"

Do you know if the jump packs from Harbor Freight are any good? And/or do you have a recommendation for one?

Many people on MTC have/use NOCO battery maintainers and jump boxes. I have both and they work great. I've jumped other vehicles, but not mine. This one, which I have, easily started a Lincoln Towncar V8 recently> https://www.walmart.com/ip/NOCO-Boo...raSafe-Portable-Lithium-Jump-Starter/46605770

I use this NOCO battery maintainer on my Maverick and also my riding mower periodically. I usually get 12v battery lifetime way beyond the rated estimated period.

Walmart or amazonia.

Here's the thing I would do.

There would be minimal risk (close to zero risk) using YOUR MAVERICK to charge the other car.

Hook up the jumper cables, let your truck "run" (key to run, just let the engine do it's thing) and let the stranded vehicle charge for 15 minutes. Longer if possible.

Then, disconnect at least one cable before the other vehicle "cranks".

It is the "cranking" that draws high amperage. Just sitting there "charging" for 15 minutes or more is rather gentle.

Most of the time the "other" vehicle is just a little too weak to start.

But this won't work if the other vehicle has a truly dead battery.

Personally I wouldn't use the Maverick, but I would let them use my jump pack.
The jump points, especially the positive, don't look to be rated for a current. Remember the hybrid doesn't have a 12v starter that requires high current.

I had the same thing [alternator failed] after jumping a car 30 yrs ago. Haven't jumped anyone since. I rather use my AAA card for them than risk it now in the high tech world of electronics.
