I actually see more of an EcoBoost (gas) cult here on the MaverickTruck club.

Really take a look at all the posts in modifying the 2.0L engine for fractional (or spotty) improvements.

Now I will agree that there are a few here who seem to be total gung ho ECO as these posts show:

Swap to Lithium ion 12v battery.
Option for a second hybrid battery
2.5L Hybrid Mods
Plug in Conversion?
Anyone else thinking about solar charging hybrid?

I own and love my Maverick Hybrid for a lot of reasons and I only owned gas powered cars/trucks before the Maverick.

My main reason for purchasing the Hybrid vs the EcoBoost Maverick was TCO (Total cost of ownership). The Hybrid costs $1085 less than the base 2WD EcoBoost and the fuel cost savings for the Hybrid are very real as seen by the many Hybrid MPG reports. Mine included. Being retired my driving is mainly short city trips and the Hybrid MPG is vastly better than the EcoBoost in city driving. If the Maverick Hybrid didn't exist I would still be driving my 2015 Honda Fit Ex because of the high MPG.

That the Hybrid pollutes less is a plus. Pollution is an issue for many large cities so I give Ford praise in moving forward to reduce this problem.
Hey, thanks for consolidating all this info. Will save me a bunch of time not having to weed through all of the posts. You have also made some great points. It never ceases to amaze me that so many can never be content with the way it is and just have the need to change for the sake of change. My mods so far are a rear Bully Bar (as I've seen the damage they can prevent in a rear end'er) and a screen protector for the touch screen. As for performance boost, I'll just get a tank of premium when needed. According to the Dyno test, for a measly $4 I can get a 22 HP increase. Can't beat that.

$4 per 25 miles. At a $.50 cost over regular, that's roughly $250/year.
I don't know where you went to school, but you should ask for your money back. I pay 30 cents more for premium. 15 gallons x 30 cents is $4.50 per tank. I fill up once a month and IF I used premium ALL the time, (which I wouldn't), that would be less that $60 a year. That's about the cost of a K&N air filter.

Weird. Here in GA the difference is 60-70c at most stations and $1 at some. I've had many cars that required premium fuel, but I'm done with that life.

Yes, me too. I will never buy another vehicle that requires premium. I was just making a comment for those that were talking about performance increases and what they were willing to pay for a small gain. That price difference was at my local Costco. Premium is now $3.04 a gallon which is below the national average for regular currently. Sam's Club also has a similar markup for premium.

Here regular's around $3.10 premium's around $3.60

12K miles / 25mpg * $0.50 = $240.

My math is fine. Your use case is not the norm.

Forgive me if this has been asked, and for not knowing but...

If I order the hybrid, and I'm not happy with the acceleration, or overall power, are there mods that can be done to make this more powerful? I'm not looking to spend tens of thousands on modifications, or an engine swap, but I know you can tune the ecoboost...
So what's wrong with the 0-60 time of a C3 corvette? If you want to fix it, swap it with a 2.0.

Well my case is what I was referring to and you chose to shoot it down, so there's that. Notice in my comment I clearly stated "I", and I can buy premium for $3.05.

I just put the variable cost in context. I didn't shoot anything down.

Neither am I. But I still like to be able to merge into traffic, or pass a semi-truck on the highway.
I have a Prius C and I have no trouble merging into traffic or pass semi and it is only 1.5 ltr engine and 99 hp. Even can do 90mph going up monteagle pass westbound. It is quicker from a start than my Jeep Cherokee sport.

So the hybrids close to the 79 vet
I owned a 79 C-3 Vette. I can tell you it was a under powered, gas guzzling non-performance car.
