I posted about totaling my Maverick on a deer a couple weeks ago.

it was a 23 XLT with BAP and Luxury package- Gas

purchased a 2026 XLT with luxury package hybrid and insurance went up $79/month

MSRP on vehicles were essentially identical.

any body have similar experience

Lots of factors involved. 1. the company, the advertised cheapos on TV don't value long time customers and raise rates. 2. exact same options? NO hybrid was higher when I priced a year ago. Many will argue that my insurance is a rip off but I disagree. Simple economics of insurance, they look at cost to repair or possible totalling of vehicles when pricing. 3.This is a big one, my company locks the rate in for 4 to 5 years unless I make a change. For example I moved 8 miles to a different area which had lower accident rates 2 years ago. But because the rates had increased for my vehicle in the 1.5 years since I purchased it my insurance went up. 4. Credit score greatly affects the rate. 5. MRSP of the 2 vehicles are not the same.

AI Overview

For a
2023 Ford Maverick XLT with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and the Black Appearance Package (BAP), the starting MSRP was approximately $27,745 (base XLT) + $1,645 (BAP) + $1,495 (destination), bringing the base total to roughly $30,885.

The 2026 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid with the Black Appearance Package (BAP) has a starting MSRP of $30,645, excluding the $1,695 destination charge. Adding the BAP, along with common options like the XLT Luxury Package, typically brings the MSRP for this configuration to between $33,000 and $36,000.

AND, the OP's Insurance Company just suffered a total loss on the previous vehicle.

While (generally) a loss by an animal strike does not cause rates to increase, that loss coupled with the OP's previous loss history can play a factor..

One person accident, almost always increases rates. Just how the formula works.
But the deer was cited for causing the accident. The judge gave it the death penalty 🤣

It was a comprehensive claim so shouldn’t effect my accident history.

The payout on my 23 was $27K had 50K miles.

The MSRP on the new one was $35635, paid 32,891.

Still had sticker form 2023 was $32k

just find it crazy that the premiums were increased so much, should make up for it in gas but, that’s life in America and Louisiana insurance

My rate was high since the big insurance company didn't have the Hybrid Maverick listed in their systems yet. I had the third Hybrid yr 22 posted here nation wide. Leveled off for 2 years and jumped this year 60 dollars / 6 months.

I expeerienced an location based insurance issue years ago (not related to a Mav). I moved from Orlando to Tampa. Initally rented a condo in Tampa while looking for a house. My insurance rate just about doubled. Alleged reason was Tampa did not chase vehicles that cause accidents, were speeding, etc. Anyway, bought house. The zip code spaned two counties. Since that's all the insurance company looked at , my rate went back down to close to Orlando. About 5 years later, someone figured out the zip code issue and added a set asking what county you were in. Yeah, rate went back up.

They are concluding that the hybrid is more $$ to insure due to battery pack. Start looking for a different company.

That was the reason my first edition Mav. Was over priced for insurance there was no 20K hybrid trucks to compare it against. All insurance companies charge more for hybrids.

That's nuts.

My insurance is less than $60/mo for my Mav. Had a claim when it was a month old for $15k+ after uninsured driver rear-ended me, also.

I'm blown away by auto insurance costs for lower cost of living areas in the US.

There have been zero or close to zero battery fires for the Maverick hybrid. Just a guess but I think it has more to do with the boron steel crumple zone that results in totaled Mavericks for even a minor rear end crash. There have been plenty of those.

If that was the case, Ecoboost Mavericks would also be hit with higher insurance rates as well.

True. But I would think that EcoBoost rates are also rising, especially for drivers that have a recently totaled vehicle.
