Just curious if my dealer is similar to the usual. I needed to make a service appointment and can not get one for two weeks. Would not be a problem if this was for routine maintenance but I cannot drive my Maverick until it gets looked at, making a very odd noise when in motion. What has been your experience been?

If I call early enough, sometimes it is same day service. Other times it can be a week of more. Depends on what holidays are approaching and the season. If I cry enough they might look at it same day and then take a week to fix it. Everyone in service knows my name. I have given them donuts and muffins on occasion.

My experience varies wildly. I've been driving Ford trucks for years and sometimes you get two day service, other times it is three weeks for an oil change. When that nonsense happens, I am fortunate and just go to another dealer if the situation is serious.
The quality of the service is also very uneven. Four Rangers, one F150, and two Mavericks later it doesn't change the equation. I also have brought donuts and while they appreciate it, I find it really makes little difference. Recenty, the first oil change on my new Lariat went badly - they spilled oil all over the top of the engine and I had to take it back.

@Ford Motor Company, I hope the Ford Motor Company individual monitoring MTC pays attention to this thread because I contend the service experience weighs heavily on brand loyalty. There are two marques in my garage: Ford and Mercedes-Benz.

I own three older Mercedes-Benz automobiles (1977 450SLC, 2002 S500, and 2002 C32 AMG) because I have a fantastic independent mechanic. All three of my cars were owned by previous customers.

We own five Fords because 1) The service advisor we have been working with for the last eleven years is great, and 2) The Internet sales manager at Long McArthur Ford (@fordvideoguy) is informative and helpful. We know how to place a retail order, what to expect, and pay a mutually fair price when buying a Ford. Then, we know it will be properly serviced and repaired on time.

Service departments and product quality are among the most significant reasons people are loyal to specific brands.

The fact that dealerships are independent of the manufacturer is often mentioned as a reason why people abandon a marque. However, Tesla's service and repair are far worse than those of traditional manufacturers. I am basing this statement on what owners have told me—more than half of the twenty-two homes on my street have at least one Tesla.

It varies from dealer to dealer. I was just able to get an appointment for less then a week from when I asked. The dealer also said they can send a service person to you for some types of service.

Strongly agree here. Local dealership for my current vehicle has very poor service and my last service was for a recall resulted in $$$ in recommended work. When it was said and done [for a two hour recall] after three weeks, I paid and I learned the recall was not performed yet (!!). They still haven’t called to schedule it, so now I’m checking on another dealership.

Luckily my wife’s recent purchase makes my vehicle redundant and with no more kids, I was able to set my sights on the Maverick. Extremely excited and hoping the Ford dealership does quality service work.

Anything other than oil changes has several weeks backlog. Seems to be the norm, Ford dealerships are the worst for this, likely due to all the recalls on all models.
