I know it's the trim that's more suited for it, but just with its size, ride height, etc, how does it do on trails? This is my first vehicle that is more capable than just driving to work and campus. And if it does well, does anyone around Colorado have any recommendations on trails to start on?

There are a lot of u-tube videos out there to watch and hopefully answer your question, do a u-tube search. Also try searching this site as well, I remember reading several off road adventures with Maverick Tremor.

Below are just a few of many.

On trails in Colorado I would check with your state's DNR trail system. Also check some state and federal lands AWD systems are not legal only 4x4s . So check with what's legal in your state and trails systems. Another is onyx trails but that service is not free showing trail systems through out t the USA and possibly North America. TFL plugs or advertises it most likely they sponsor TFL.

The Tremor is more than AWD. It locks the front and rear axles together and has a rear locking axle as well.

It's funny cause I think of my Tremor as 4x4 not at all as AWD.

My 2017 F150 was basically the same system in 4A.

If I can manually lock the front+rear, it's 4x4.
4x4 and AWD are completely different. One of the biggest is a 2 speed transfer case allowing more power and torque to the wheels. Also many 4x4 can still tow comparable weights as there 2wd counterparts.

PDU acts the exact same as my F150 did. Input from engine to clutches to send to the front and rear. I mean you can call it AWD all you want. Those two systems act the exact same.

This is the 4A transfer case of course, not the non auto, as they didn't have clutches.

Please don't get me wrong. I do agree that a 2 speed transfer case is different, and the Tremor of course doesn't have that.
If THAT is the only reason they're saying it's not 4x4, so be it. But I don't necessarily agree with that thinking. Locked front to rear, that's what 4x4 is to me.

And there is a difference in 4X4s, some are offroad rated and others are not. Offroad rated 4X4s more often than not have a lower payload and tow ratings, Raptor for example.
My Raptor had 2 driven wheels, one front one rear unless I pushed the rear lock button. then it had the same number as my Tremor.

You would have to check with that particular state. I don't know the reason why some do allow and some do not.

My 1972 Dodge W200 is not off road rated and is one of the most capable off road vehicles I have ever driven. I don't think they worried about off road ratings in the 1970's.......And I could probably carry your Raptor to the trail.

Just did my very first off-roading adventure in my 61 years at Richloam Wildlife near Webster, Florida.

The Tremor did great, but I didn't tax its abilities as I stayed on the Level 1 and Level 2 trails. Plus it was mostly dry with a few sand pits. I looked down the trail at some of the Level 3+ paths and decided to not get potentially stuck without a secondary rescue vehicle if needed.

The biggest challenge was dodging the mega-size horseflies!

Going back in a month when the rainy starts here in central Florida. Should be a different ballgame...
