After 3 years, I'm kind of surprised nobody has dropped batteries and motors into a Maverick. Or maybe somebody has? A retrofit BEV Maverick wouldn't sound as cool as a V8. But it sure would go fast. At least until 1,000+ HP bends the unibody frame into a pretzel. Or maybe not? That thing is built to tow and haul after all.

Mission accomplished.
gosh, between the passenger seat and the bed, it's easy to have dual V8s!

(was it Tim Allen that had a second northstar installed in the trunk of a Cadillac Deville to drive the rear wheels?)

What is the goal?
2.3L Ecoboost delivers over over 600 HP with modifications and is less effort.
Why V8?
Yes, but now I'd like you to imagine... 2 of them. At the same time.

yeah, engineered with to meet the bare minimum strength to do what it's advertised to do. I doubt you could stack 1500lbs on the front bumper and have the truck drive right

In high school, there was a girl who had an Opel GT with a V8 in it. Sure, it was 8 cylinders, but it was 262ci.

I still don't understand why many people think 8 is a magic number for car engines. The fastest cars in the world have 6. The most reliable cars in the world have 4. I guess it's because in Chinese culture 8 is a lucky number?

Historically, you could get more displacement out of an 8 than a 4 or a 6.

In the 30s, the top end manufacturers had V-12s (although Cadillac sandbagged the rest by encouraging rumors that they, too, were working on one--and then smugly introduced a V-16 instead! [they also offered a 12 a couple of years later]).

But by the end of the 30s, 8s (both straight and V) made comparable power, and most manufacturers dropped them. The reduced angle between cylinders was also no longer compelling. (Lincoln, though, continued making V12s after the war).

We now have compressions, direct or turbo, that weren't conceivable at the time the 8 established dominance. On top of that, you can feel the difference and smoother pull from the shorter angle between 8 & 6 cylinders; it makes more difference than 12 to 8.

And let's face it; the burble of a carbureted V-8 is just plain awesome!

Scroll down this page to the V8 chart. It really is the magic number.
