Thanks for that link. I was thinking about using something like that on the leading edge of the hood. The trailing edge could use some, too.

I'm thinking about wrapping the wiper arms in ppf too…

This happened to me, and there is a simple solution to get you back to a factory paint job look and protection.

it was going to snow, so I put the wipers in service mode, stood them up and used ford pass to start the car and defrost the next day. The wipers were on and they smashed the hood edge and scratched it on the way down.

I sanded the edge, cleaned and prepped it, got duplicolor touch up paint and applied two coats. Then applied clear coat twice with the brush applicant. Cover all edges so it doesn’t peel. Only I know it’s there and I can’t see the spot unless I’m really trying.

The hood won’t rust either. It’s not steel

Wow, so much nastiness in this thread.

It is possible to disagree with someone, or point out an error in their thinking, without ridiculing them, calling them names, or otherwise being hateful. This is just a thread about window wipers and paint--not sports teams or human rights.

Yup. It really sucked when I realized what I did and it was MY FAULT! The fix I just posted above will help, and eventually he’ll forget about it. Maybe in a few years you’ll have to retouch it up from washing the car or whatever and the touch up paint flaking, and by that time the hood scratch won’t be nearly as bad as bed dents and scratches from hauling shit. Hope I helped.

I wonder if someone will find a modification to the wiper arm or the hoof itself that will allow the wipers to be raised in any position? I am glad that there is a way, but I think a lot of owners are going to find this out after they have already had the hood damaged.

I have a brand new 2023 and I did the rhino lining and the gold pass interior and exterior. I think ziebart when doing the exterior must have had my wiper blades up and started. Again I've never had my wiper blades out so I didn't scratch the paint but what I'm looking for is how have you had it remedied? When I talk to ziebart of course they denied that the wipers would have needed to be out. I just don't see why the dealership would have had them out. Is this under warranty through the dealership?

From the few times I have stood my wipers up the paint on the edge of the hood has been rubbed off and is down to the metal.
Would this be covered under the warranty?

Sorry, but this would not be covered by warranty. 100% certain about that. It is damage.

It should be, bring it to your local dealership and see what they say. Our service manager will go above and beyond trying to get something like this covered. If you get no for an answer, try another dealer and if still getting a no, ask for Ford's customer service number. Sometimes things like this can take some arm twisting.
It wouldn't be. No way Ford would cover this.
(I work as a warranty admin at a Ford dealer.... And we have enquiring for a customer years ago. The response was direct and simple: "no, it's damage").

This just needs touch-up paint. And changing habits to prevent it from happening again.

Maybe you could get your dealer to give you the touch-up paint? But Ford won't be paying for something like this.

I bought a primer pen a Alto Blue paint pen and a clear coat pen. Hope and I can at least get it myself. Any recommendations on a fine grit sandpaper?

Correct. If you try to lift the arms up while the wipers are parked, the arms will hit the hood and scratch the paint. Lots of modern cars are this way.
I do miss the ability to lift the arms when hood is down. I like to lift them when washing the car, but can't on my Mav.
