I am a long way off from actually trailering anything with the Mav so I don’t need a Class III just yet, but I want to add the bed extender arm for hauling Kayaks. What is the best option for a receiver that will work for this accessory? Can I attach something to the bumper without worries for that purpose?

Someone posted over a year ago of putting a bolt on clamp on the center of their rear crash bar. Might have required holes for bolts through crash bar don't remember. Might try search for it.??? I would recommend one by curt that bolts on close to where crash bar is attached.

Not that I'm aware of. The bumper is pretty much plastic. My suggestion in your case is just add the hitch receiver from Ford Accessories or Curt, https://www.curtmfg.com/trailer-hitches
Yeah…saw those. Thought they were a little too much as they are rated at a higher tow capacity than the truck (hybrid), but may be the best (and only) choice.

You could just build a kayak tray out of 2x4s. Go however long you want and just strap it down at the front. Even if you have to go buy a drill at Harbor Freight to screw it together it shouldn't cost more than $70. Can also use it to store your kayaks at home on. If you don't have the space you could always build it in 2 pieces and add a couple door hinges.

i'm glad i saw the great bargain of adding a hitch on my build for only $100
I did too back in 2022 when I ordered it originally. But a year later when hitches were STILL on the constraints list I took it off hoping I could do the same thing aftermarket for not much. Sadly I was wrong as currently there is only one on the market and wildly overpriced. Won’t be too much longer before there are other receivers besides that one. Bronco’s have really nice aftermarket towing accessories, so why not Mavs.

I would've done the same thing. I'm sure there will soon be lots of AM parts. Funny how the hitch is truely a bargain in today's world.

You removed it because of the constraints? I think people doing that were chasing a dream, I ordered both of my Mavericks with the hitch and waited, one came 9 months the other in 13. Maybe I could have gotten it at month 8 or 12 if not added the hitch? IDK doubt it. The people editing their orders and stuff were just screwing themselves out of the vehicle they actually wanted lol.
