High RPMs when taking off from a stop

I have a 2.0 Eco with 1,328 miles and just noticed that when taking off from a stop sign my RPMs will go up around 3,000 and then drop as I accelerate to 35 mph. Has anyone else experienced this? What is Ford saying about it?

Lol, when you take off from a dead stop the rpm will react accordingly! It sounds like you're jumping on it?

What you are describing sounds normal. The RPMs will climb as you accelerate and as the transmission shifts it will drop the RPMs.

No, I'm not. I tried to accelerate very slow and it still did it. I'm 73 and not a hot rodder. lol

No, this does not sound normal when it is happening from a dead start in first gear. As soon as I press on the gas pedal the rpm's immediately climb to approximately 3,000 rpm and then it drops back down as it shifts into 2nd and beyond.

This sounds absolutely normal as your truck is still learning fuel tables and transmission strategies based on how you drive. That being said, 3,000 rpm from a dead stop seems absolutely normal at this stage in the truck's life.

If you are in gear (D) on a mostly level surface, and just take your foot off the brake (no gas), does the truck start to move, without applying throttle?

It's most likely just your TC loosening up with break-in miles, but could potentially be an issue if the truck doesn't move without applying throttle.

When I start from a dead stop I hit about 3k before it shifts. I think that’s normal. It is a peppy engine

i saw your note today so observed mine on the way home from work. no way do i hit 3K rpm. actually not at any point on my 30 mile one way daily commute..

I don't have too many miles behind mine but my first impressions are that the eco-boost really takes off unless you're exceptionally delicate on the throttle.

yup i felt feels like baby mustang in sport mode. 2.0 ecoboost. I think ill be in eco or normal mostly.

Early on there was at least one time where I experienced the same. I did not know what was going on so I ran thru all the drive modes because I thought computer system was confused. Since then it drives and shifts normal.
