I bought my Maverick used with 5300 miles on it. 2024 XLT Eco. It now has 8300 miles on it's original Continental tires. I checked the tire depth and it is showing 7/32. I have read other threads that members have said the OEM Conti's will wear early. Could be. They start out at 8/32. I'm thinking I'm replacing at 20K but other posts say don't replace until 4/32. Will I make it to 20k? They are rated 55K.

The hardness of the compound can be different as the tire wears usually harder as it gets down, But also less traction. Depends on snow and water As to how far you want to go. And it depends on how aggressively you drive tires. I remember my cheap father would run them bald to get his money's worth. But the savings goes out the window when you total it.

Our 23 mav,s factory continentals are at 33,000 miles and look great. I probably won't replace until at least 55k.

And the 55K thing doesn't have anything to do with tread wear. It's just that if, by some miracle, you happen to get 56K miles of wear out of the tire, Continental is no longer responsible for manufacturer defects.

I replaced my tires at 33K -they were still driveable(4/32-5/32) but going on a 1000 mile trip,you just don't know the weather.if I hadn't gone on a trip,would have kept driving around town for another 10K

That would have been great if you were able to get 44K out of them. I've never owned Continentals but I think they are a softer rubber just because when backing into my garage and having to turn the steering wheel a couple of times to get it in just right, the pavers in my driveway are now pretty marked up with black tire treads. None of my other vehicles did this over ten years and 4 different sets of tires between two cars. Maybe it's just the new wearing off and will stop when it get's to that point that other posters have commented that they wear down much slower.

I got right at 50,000 on mine before I replace them with 4/32 to go, picked up a screw in an unrepairable area replaced all four

Replaced mine at 7000 miles , did not like the 1 ply sidewall on the factory Continentals.
If you enlarge photo you can see the bulge in the sidewall (9 a.m. in tire) from being so thin, I did not trust that, even though they are goverment approve.

I have a few “bulges” too. From what I read they are normal and common, but…. I don’t know….

They will wear slower as they go.
Once mine got to 4/32" they stayed there for like 25,000 miles hardly changing.

Weird. But true. Mine lasted 45,000 miles to get one tire to 2/32 and the rest were 3/32".

My advice: don't be hasty.
