Hey all!

First, happy to say the truck arrived. Taking her home was a 1400 mile road trip and it was a delight. Unfortunately, in all the excitement and fatigue (long day of travel) I forgot to ask how the private offer worked before I signed papers. I'm an idiot, I know. But I've bought one Maverick, dealt with Ford one time. My dealer has sold dozens and dealt with Ford for years. They should be telling me about this stuff, right? I hate that this burden of action was placed on me.

So I realize that I signed at the 2023 MSRP and text just a few hours later, and my salesman asks for the certificate number. Okay. Call Ford customer service, the rep happily provides it to me, and I provide it to the dealer. He asks me to send him the "private offer email" Ford supposedly sent me (they didn't) and I told him he should be able to see it in SmartVincent. Two days later after not hearing anything, I pay a visit to the dealer. My salesman says they can see the private offer in SmartVincent but it "won't let them" apply it to my order. He says they click on it and nothing happens, or something. He tells me sometimes these rebates can take months.

I'm really confused as to what my next course of action should be. Do I start an email chain with Ford Customer support and the salesman/dealer? Can @fordvideoguy or anyone else on the dealer side give me a tutorial on applying the rebate and then i can talk my guy through it (like I did with the cancelled-VIN rollover process)?

Can someone just tell me I'm not up a creek for signing already?

Escalate to the sales and finance managers. Push and hope for the best. Not sure if they can do anything once the sale is finalized. Most you can hope for is to squeaky wheel them. You signed a contract for this price so you don't have a lot of recourse.

If you already have a certificate number, your dealer should still be able to get this worked out after the deal is done. When my certificate wasn't showing up (because original 2022 order wasn't COVP approved, and I work at a Ford dealer) the Ford inventory specialist told my sales manager this has happened to a lot of people and just file an exception after I purchased, since my truck was to arrive within a week at that time. Then, when Ford sent dealer check for private offer, the dealer would then cut me a check. I didn't like this but fortunately for me, they were able to correct the issue by the day I actually made the purchase. I believe the key will be how experienced, persistent and helpful your sales manager is with Ford. But, that is just my opinion. Wish you the best on that.

It should have been applied at the time of purchase. I would do what @gte105u recommended. Push it to the General Sales Manager. They owe that to you. Ford provided gave you the private offer and it is their responsibility to comply.

Hmmmm they should be able to manually claim the private offer after the fact.... and have Ford send directly to you.
I've never tried to claim a private offer after the fact like this before....but I do think that it is possible.

For anyone else who finds themselves in my shoes, it happened exactly as @KevCuRaoi suggested. They figured out the Smart Vincent stuff on their end and Ford sent them a check made out to me.

Happy endings, stand up dealer, good news all around.
