Is there a way to tune the temperature gauge to more realistically track actual engine temperatures?

I suspect the hybrid ice temperature varies a bit more than an ecoboost.

Unknown but unlikely to be able to "tune" or change the temp "gauge".

Varies more? - not really.

It just has more opportunity to hang out in the lower ranges.
Which the EB is going to go smoothly past on the way to higher temps.
Same higher temps the HEV will smoothly go up to if highway speeds and ICE running constantly.

If you are thinking of towing and wanting to know temps - transmission may be more important.
@The Real Maverick will have some experience and advice on monitoring those in a useful way.

Or if you had other concern for better monitoring engine temp, probably something there too.

Get a wireless obd2 adapter and use an app that matches your phone (I use Carscanner on an iPhone) and then either mount your phone to see live data or use carplay to display on the infotainment screen.
I watch various things including the ice coolant temp

Thanks. The OBD2 app may be the way.

I have a 2005 BMW which is notorious for dumping coolant and overheating/distroying the engine.

One mod is to decrease the buffer range on the coolant temp gauge so you can react before the engine dies. It takes some software and coding change the buffer range.

Hopefully I won’t have to worry about it in the Maverick.

OBDII scanner of your choice will give you real time temperatures in numerical format. To the exact degree.

You will see on day one the thermometers vary a lot but the gauges on your dash do not.

The warm-up from cold, to about 180°F the needle or bar chart will move fairly in a liner way.

The needle (lower trims 2022-2024) gives good, realistic resolution in the lower range.

Then, at 180 or 185°F the needle (or bar graph) stops moving.

I've had real temperature read 220°F towing uphill. The needle in my XLT never moved past where it was at 180°F.

Supposedly this is to "calm" owners, and to keep them out of dealerships asking questions. They want to tell you everything is either cold, or normal, until there is an emergency.

General consumer I guess likes this.
You (because you started this thread) and I like to see the actual temperature in 1 degree increments. Any OBDII reader will give you this.

Everyone else gets COLD - NORMAL - HOT

Example of ScanGaugeIII screen.
Pricy, but you don't need a phone or any technical skills. You just plug it it.
And it will show data from about 75 things. Up to 9 at a time that you select.

I use Car Scanner Pro on my phone (or an old one, or a cheap $30 prepaid you don't activate) which is $7 and an inexpensive OBD2 bluetooth plug which I keep plugged in all the time.

It gives exact coolant temps.
