Always liked the heads up display that one sees on the newer cars and I would like to install one on my Lariat hybrid. No shortage of these on Amazon with either a simple USB connect or a much more informative "data" cable. I'm fine with the simpler USB connect, but thought I'd entertain some member input on experiences and recommendations.

I just use a basic one I've had for a number of years now that's pretty much standalone as it solely relies on GPS. This does mean that it can be interrupted, but it's pretty rare and usually only a few seconds. Could be more of a problem if you travel through tunnels frequently.

I have occasionally been tempted to try upgrading to one of the ones that utilize the OBDII + GPS and display extra data (actual coolant temp and RPM could be useful), but I've seen some with hybrids comment that the units get confused by the engine shutting off.

You and me both, I would love to have an OBDII driven HUD but I can't find anywhere what information I can get from the OBD. I would like(I have a hybrid) battery status of charge, throttle position, oil pressure, coolant temp, and MAYBE some way to get the Blind Side Alert in front of my eyes rather than blocked by my glasses frames!

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm fine with having just the mph. I should mention that I prefer one that projects on the windshield rather than a screen sitting on top of the dash.

You can monitor hybrid battery charge via ODB so a HUD with that would be great as it's really the only thing I miss from the dash.

If all you are looking for is MPH projected on the windshield, you can accomplish that for $10 or less from Temu and ten minutes of running the USB cord to your power source.

Thanks. I'm just not sure where the obd plug-in is located.

Thank you! Would I be pushing it if I asked for a photo?
Here it is first with Scan Guage plugged into it. Then by itself, note relationship to hood release.

I just now looked at that on their website. What I like: make for the Maverick which means it won't damage any electrical components. What I didn't like: Expensive and won't work when the hybrid is using its electric motor. EcoBoost owners will benefit.
