Nice semi short video, not sure I have seen it anywhere else here. He talks about his concerns that it wouldn't be what he needs but nails it with 'I'm like most truck buyers that overbuy' or something to that effect

I sold my 21 Taco SR5 for about the same price as my Mav Lariat First Edition Hybrid... easy decision.

Ford Maverick He sold his Tacoma and got a Maverick 63365475472--44D19799-F218-4E12-8930-E84F39C91917

I made the same switch, but went from a nice 1st gen Taco to the Mav :) With how high toyota prices are right now, my 20 year old truck with almost 200k miles paid for more than half of my new one, so I'm happy!

I'd think Toyota will have to come out with a competitor pick-up based on the Rav4 or Highlander. And maybe a hybrid with AWD. They need to step it up because they've rested on their "reliability" laurels long enough.

I have a 2010 Taco, will never sell it. Being passed down from one son to the other then will wait for my daughter. I already told them all, It comes back to me in the end.

Although my previous vehicle was a Mini Cooper S convertible prior to that I had a Tacoma. I really loved the Tacoma but if I had it now going to the Maverick would be a no brainer. With the Tacoma I had way more truck than I needed and to some extent the Maverick is more vehicle than I need but it's comfortable and has the bed for different projects and the mpg is better than my Mini Cooper. I did love the Mini Cooper too but it was somewhat impractical to my needs.

I think toyota should be worried.
They will come up with a small hybrid truck eventually, but it will cost $35k for the mid level.

We may say a lot about Toyota and how they will reactively come up with something derived from a RAV4 platform, but let's not forget it was Ford Motor Company that proactively came up with the Maverick, to offer an outstanding new alternative to (non off-road) truck buyers right now, and not Toyota....

This review touches on the key points of why the Maverick is a hit, it’s just the right balance of what most people need. There’s plenty of compromises if you’re coming from more lux cars (seat comfort in my case!) but then you factor in the utility and the Hybrid option, absolute no brainer. Was waiting for the new Frontier for so long… love the looks but Ford just hit it out the park.
