please cancel your order with FORD so somebody else patiently waiting for their Maverick gets moved up in the line.

I had second thoughts while waiting for my Mav, but I'm so happy I went through with the purchase. I've had it since November and love it more every day.

I think not, dealer keeps the order and sells at a markup when it's built/delivered. Doesn't help anybody "patiently" waiting "in line".

Check with the dealer. That’s how I got mine no markup, someone got tired of waiting.

My understanding is ownership of the built vehicle stays with Ford until it is received by the dealer. Then dealer sells it to whomever- ordering party or becomes stock unit if ordering party declines to complete purchase. That is why I highlighted cancelling with FORD- not the dealer- as they have been known to not actually cancel a custom order with Ford and kept the vehicle for stock sale. If you cancel with FORD before it is built the vehicle can be built any configuration Ford wants and redirected- but will not go to the dealer you ordered from.

You hit the jackpot :) , very unlikely to find MSRP on a customer canceled order IMO.

I'm in the same boat as you with a base Tacoma and an unscheduled Mav. Resale value on base model trucks is pretty good. So my plan is to hold it and trade/sell it when my Mav gets here. I don't like waiting either, but this is the right move if you have an active order and you're not interested in an alternative vehicle.

Bide your time, enjoy your present truck and decide when the time comes. That was my plan and I got short circuited when someone declined their order and I got at MSRP.

I’ve reviewed all the issues so far with the maverick (find my list here, I know it needs a little update). There have been a few anomalies and a bunch of burning cats that Ford is working towards a solution on. The rest of the issues have been inconveniences at most.

There have been moments where I feared buying the Maverick as well. After thinking about it for a long time (Ford has graciously given me 10 months) I came down off my cliff. I’m sold on it being a darn good truck.
