Having problems with aftermarket hood struts

I read that someone installed hood struts and they had a problem opening the hood .
i have that same problem ,except it doesn't happen all the time . What causes that ,and how can it be eliminated ?

I have the Redline strut kit installed and have not experienced the issue. However, the issue stems from the struts either pulling down on the hood or pushing it up (I can't remember honestly) while the hood is latched which will not allow the latch to fully release.

I installed a Jeep hood spring at the same time I installed the strut kit:
This one: Jeep hood spring
I installed it using one of the studs for the latch on the hood.

This prevents the latch from getting jammed. I have had zero issues with opening the hood.
