The $100 thingy wouldn't be a thingy if only a few people hated this feature.

And sorry you don't like my whining... would you say you HATE my whining?
I do.

Someone on the Bronco Sport forum said he plugged this in and it turns off the auto start/stop. The system thinks there is a trailer hooked up. Give it a try, it’s only $9 compared to $100 for that other gadget.
Swear I saw one of those at an O'Reilly a while back, for those of us who don't like feeding Amazon.

Either way, that's pretty cool if a trailer brake tester is all you need to disable that.

I HATE auto start/stop also!!
As mentioned by @Finklejag I stopped in at Harbor Freight and got the $3.99 brake light tester, and results are confusing.

Ford Maverick Hate auto start stop Brake Tester

Once stopped, often the little panel indicator will show auto start/stop as disabled and the engine continues to run. But, many times it doesn't disable and the engine will shut down. If I relax brake pedal pressure the engine will start and then the disabled indicator shows again and the system seems to be bypassed. And after this initial cycles, it seems to be bypassed more consistently.

I can't imagine why it doesn't either work all the time, or not at all. But I am intrigued that this seems to be heading in the right direction. Please let me know your thoughts if you have any!

(and of it does prove to work in the long run, I'll trim the molded grab area of the tester down so the 4 pin door and close over it)

I’ll bet the weather conditions are great for that!

I bought the 100 dollar harness and I don’t even have a maverick yet. Maybe won’t ever, but if I do I won’t have to put up with this feature.

Turbo engines in my mind shouldn’t be turned off and on often.

Today makes 2 weeks since I picked up my Maverick and have about 1,000 miles on it now. It still exceeds my expectations, and I love spending time in it... but about half the time I put it in 'drive' and pull away, I forget to hit that pesky button with the 'circle A' on it, and when I do forget and I come to the first stop, and the lovely 2.0 Ecoboost engine shuts off, I first exclaim (out loud) "I HATE THAT!" and then I hit the pesky button to shut off auto start/stop.

I sure hope we figure out a way to turn it off permanently, without having to buy the $100 thingy. Please Ford, give us a way to shut this frustration off for good.
Only on this forum do people complain about fancy features that benefit them 😂

Why do people keep insisting this will "wear out the starter"? Cars have had auto stop/start for years now - I had it on cars as far back as 2014 - and the cars with this system do not have regular starters and the cars don't require any extra maintenance.

There are benefits to the system. If you find it annoying, shut it off - you have the option. But try to resist the urge to assume things when the information is widely available.

Actually I'm pretty sure a large part of the population hates this modern automotive 'feature'.

The only thing I'm assuming is that I find it really annoying and I want it disabled permanently. I'm pretty sure my assumption is correct.

I believe there is a solution for that. But wanting it disabled because you don't like it, and wanting it disabled because you don't know anything about it and are afraid it is going to break are not the same things. Not saying you were that person.. I just saw a couple of posts in the thread talking about starter wear.

On the fusion there's a wire for voltage sensing that you can unplug on the battery that tricks the car into staying running to charge said battery, but that turns off the ability to remote start the car. I'm not sure if the Mav has it or not. I also HATE this feature but have gotten used to turning it off before shifting into gear.

I actually just went out a bit ago and looked for that connector on the battery, after seeing the Bronco Sport forum talk about it. I also watched a video on the Fusion a week ago about it, but had decided at that time to look for another process if possible.

So anyway, the Maverick does have it, and I disconnected it. That did disable the start/stop, but I also got a charging system warning, and that required an 'ok' click to clear. At least it feels like I'm making progress.
