Lots of dealerships gave away orders due to their incompetance, lack of interest in and or knowledge of the Maverick. Demands for large down payments and requiring expensive dealer add ons also played a role. In a fair world these dealerships should have received zero allocations.

No doubt there is a good number of people that would not have a Maverick this year had they not gone with LM in the past two years. Tim always encouraged people to go to their local dealership. Many of the LM orders for MY23 were people ordering the "back up" order to their local dealership.

Everyone that ordered last year through LM or any dealership knew it was a crap shoot , especially if they were not a MY22 roll over. Many of the MY 23 orders taken were people that came to LM so late in the game they really felt they had no alternative at that point as it was clear the order banks were not going to stay open very long. They hopped on at the last minute, they were a long shot at best but they had a shot at least.

I was well informed about the Maverick by an employee of a competent dealership that wanted my order with no requirement for a big down payment and expensive dealer add ons that I didn't want. I gave it to them. Yep in hind site they took too many orders but I'm glad they took mine. My Maverick is on their lot today being prepared to ship to me here in Tucson.

Finally, just think how it might have been different if Ford actually had an advertising campaign on the Maverick. Actually informed their dealerships about the Maverick. Could actually build all the orders. But no they failed to do any of it. They relied on Tim Bartz for their ad campaign, I'm surprised they didn't ask him to help build them. They should have gotten Tim and LM more allocations, period. That was the least they could do IMO.

they should pay him to represent Ford at these Owners Meet and Greet that I went to a month ago and not giving him the allocation as he is not the owner of that dealership.

Well If I understand you correctly you are saying he should be paid by Ford for being a representative but that should not translate in to more LM dealership allocations. The pay is not going to happen because he is a dealership employee and the allocation part is not going to happen because it makes too much sense.

Been on this forum since Aug 2020, much longer than you btw. watched his videos, read his forum comments, what don't I know? I get it, he is a popular guy here but the current facts tell a story.
What Kingfish said above.

You're missing lots of information for your conclusion.

Last year Ford didn't tell dealers how many allocations they were getting before order banks closed. When they finally assigned allocations, it was done way differently than in the past, leaving LM with far fewer Mavericks. And when Tim asked their Ford regional rep midway through the order period, the rep told them to keep taking orders.

I'm not a big fan of dealerships in general, but this one's on Ford and their lack of communication.
I can see this as true on a small scale but not to the extent reported here. No one knows allocations better than the very business men who live or die by them, way better than us. To solely blame Ford for the scope of this shortfall stretches the imagination a bit too far. I don't buy the dealer hand wringing saying Ford didn't tell us, not to this extent. I'm fully aware of what Tim has said but in the end they took 100% more orders than were available.
In the end I'm thinking about the 500 costumers that ordered in full faith of getting a Maverick only to be disappointed. Some may say that more people got Mavericks because of LM but on the flip side an equal number somewhere else did not. There was always only so many available in the end, and Ford was clear on what percentage would be hybrids vs eco.

what i am saying is they should consider employing him to represent Ford like an influencer. At least when I spoke with marketing people from Ford at the Owners Meet and Greet they said they were looking for someone like him and they were aware of his presence both on this forum and his Youtube channel.

If Tim had to officially represent corporate Ford then Tim's helpfulness would dramatically decrease. You don't get to be a paid Ford influencer who also gets to complain about the broken systems nor release critical product details before Ford approves of it. He could certainly bring value to corporate but he'd be less helpful to the rest of us.

I just got mine… unfortunately it is wrong. I changed my 23 order from XL to Lariat, but my dealer changed my order back to an XL for 2024. At this point I’m not sure if it’s worth getting it corrected, and an XL is still a fine vehicle for my purposes. Hopefully it won’t screw up my private offer…

I don’t look to Tim to help me whine. I look to him for clarity and information. I think Tim has been smart enough not to criticize ford. Not sure if ford looks at what he does as a risk to their PR department

I wouldn't call him a risk either, nor did I mean to imply whining.
But as a 3rd party journalist and not a corporate Ford employee Tim currently has the flexibility to be more open and blunt about the existing issues we care about. As an employee his facts and analysis would be restrained until approved by management.

How many times does Tim advise customers to remove accessories from orders to improve chances of a build? Ford would never officially make that statement. As a third party that's good blunt analysis. As a corporate Ford employee telling customers to not buy products is not good business.

It wouldn't be the same clear and open content.
