Hard Tri-fold vs Hard Roll Up

Yes. The hard roll up cover. Is retractable. Rolls up into a canister. And has multiple spots to stop. In my opinion the best cover option.
1 Hard roll up
2 Tri fold
3 soft roll up
4 clam shell lift
5 snap on cover

I believe by “roll up” the OP is referring to the “roll up over the top” Ford option style as opposed to the aftermarket under-mount canister version. Those like the RetraxPro MX are amoung the best, but the canister takes up a lot of what relatively little bed space there is in a Maverick.

I'm thinking if I go with a cover outside if the Ford ones, I may go with the Truxedo Sentry CT. I like the low profile and the quick release option.

in my experience, the hard folding are by far the most durable especially if you get extreme temps
