Super thanks. I'm going to take off the cover and rails and reinstall after doing some weather stripping similar to yours. From what I read elsewhere here, looks like all covers on the Maverick have an issue with this area. There will always be water accumulation on the ledge because of the design. I may try to experiment with getting it to overflow onto the plastic rail cover part (as shown below using your photo). I'll likely need to use some RTV silicone to make it as watertight as possible. It likely wont' be the perfect solution since it will trap a few mms of water on the ledge.

Wish there was a way to get the water to drain into the cover rails though (and out the tube). I'll take a closer look when I take the rails off. I have the drop-in bedliner which adds a fair bit of thickness against the cab (and entry points for water to slip behind the bedliner.
That was my exact thought, either let it run left and right out of that back channel. Maybe 3d print or like a rubber ramp of sorts to do it. Only thing we don't want is to trap that water in there.

Saw the Bak X4 install and they actually use a rubber edge upwards all across so it's minimal water going into back channel. Its not bad but someone or something pushes any of it downwards, there's the fail. Might try something along that route as well.

When you take the rails off, if you can do some photos of that back channel and left/right connection area...might give us a better idea of what to do.

Just got my Bison and installed it over the weekend - thanks for all the tips on here.

About the leaky corners near the cab, what do you guys think about adding a bead of silicon caulk around all the trim pieces at the corners?

Just installed the Bison cover on my Maverick that finally came. I like it's low profile and low price. A buddy at work has a BakFlip on his truck and it has some minor leaks as well, he couldn't believe the price for pretty much the same cover as his.
I wish I would have found these waterproofing tips before installation. Thanks for the tips, I'll be implementing them soon.

Glad to hear you like the Bison cover. I'm going to order it as well once my truck arrives. Any issues with leaks so far?

I wish it was totally water tight(has some minor leaks), but with a little work and some tweaking and following some of the above suggestions I think I can get it water tight.. I've only had it and the truck for two days, but after speaking with a buddy with the BakFlip, his has minor leaks too for double the price. FYI it's currently on sale.

General impression I get is they all leak a little, just how it goes. I was going to get the Bison, just to support a Canadian company if nothing else, but it was out of stock for so long and I needed a cover to protect my gear, so I had to get something else. Glad it is working for you guys!

+1 Bison. Incredible value but mine arrived with some cosmetic damage. They offered a small refund

I am thinking of the hard rollup. I need to order something soon. My Maverick goes into production next week. Does anyone have the hard rollup from Ford?

I do. Love it. Not water tight though so if that's an issue for you you may want to reconsider.

Hi,

How much does it leak?
I don't know I've only had my mav since yesterday morning and I noted when i looked at it a couple very small gaps at the back on either side of the tailgate where it closes. Very small but plenty big enough for water intrusion.

New thing I learned from the winter! Ice can build and catch in between the Bison end flap and the tailgate. Trying to open when theres ice and youd have to almost pry it off. So not cool when youre trying to get that sucker open.

Once the weather is a touch clear, I suggest to grab some quick drying silicone spray (I bought 3-in-One brand, looks like this https://www.amazon.ca/WD-40-WD-40®-3-in-ONE®-Silicone-Lubricant/dp/B07PRZ9P8Z but you might have some at home or grab a can from CT or Princess Auto). Anyways, flip the first panel up and do a quick spray on all the rubber flappy things along the edge. Also, take a rag and wipe the edge of the tailgate too. Should handle the whole year but I may apply again at the end of Fall just in case.

Im probably going to do the door seals as well since I remember during one of many "storms of the century" :) that the doors were also frozen a touch. I might even do more spray work on the bison, like the rubber on each flap but maybe another time.
