I didn't buy the ones from DiamondBack, I did my own setup by cutting down some Rhino Rack T-slot rails and then used the Rhino cross bars with homemade bike mounts made with 2x6s and fork mounts from Amazon. I did have to drill the cover to attach the rails which I was also hesitant doing, but measure 3 or 4 times before drilling and it will be OK.
That's what gives me pause, I wish I selected to have the bike rail connections added to mine when I ordered it, I am afraid of getting the drill points wrong or having leaks where I drilled, I am sure the hardware comes with gaskets to prevent leaks.

The Rhino Rack rails I used came with gaskets and I also added some silicone caulk. After 2.5 years I haven't had any leaks from the rail mounting hardware.

That's good to know, I may have to revisit adding it to my cover after hearing that.

Just to throw this in the mix. I have been using the Oedro tri-fold hard cover I got off eBay over a year ago.

There are various others using them on the forum. So far it has been great! No issues. Get barely any water in the bed even during a real gullywasher.

I have a DiamondBack cover and it's pretty good but not perfect. I still think it's a good option and would buy it again. It provides the security I want while traveling and camping. I also mounted T-slot rails on top of it to attach cargo cross bars to haul bikes or a hard sided luggage carrier. My biggest complaint is that it's not as water proof as I had hoped. I get leaks dribbling down the sides of the bed at the break in the cover seal where sections meet and at the expansion joint in the Maverick plastic on top of the bed side. Here's a poor quality picture of my camping setup with bikes on the cover.

I did a similar setup on on old F150 with the Lund hard cover, and a Yakima permanent mount system, and it was a great solution. Lockable, lighted, etc, and strong enough to stand on when loading bikes or gear. My Mav came with the dealer tri-fold tonneau, but I'm considering options to add a similar low-profile rack system.

Care to share some pictures of your bike rack setup? I'm looking to do something similar
This is the best picture I have right now. The 2x6s are held to the Rhino Rack cross bars with U-bolts. The fork mounts are from Amazon and bolted to the 2x6. The rear wheels are sitting in a channel made with 2x2s and held with velcro straps. The frames are also tied to the 2x6 with ratchet straps and a security chain goes through both bike frames and around the 2x6s. Not the most elegant setup but it does the job.

Your hard tri-fold cover can't flip open under a low-profile rack ... that's the whole reason I got a hard roll-up instead.

I added Truxedo TS rails under my OEM tonneau cover side rails. Then I designed custom risers that are only tall enough to allow the tonneau cover to roll up under the cross bars

Yes, I'm expecting to either have to replace the tri-fold with a hard cover, or considering options like the Truxedo Elevate. That one would work well for my 13' inflatable boat, but not be ideal for bikes or a cargo box unless I could drop it right down to the level of the bedrails.

Has anyone put a Diamondback bed cover on their Maverick? Need to lock up the truck bed with a good hard cover. Recommendations?
I have the Real Truck Bakflip MX4 Gen 3 . It’s a low profile folding hard cover.

I’m happy with it.

Something I hadn’t noticed right away is that bed rail clamps do not interfere with sliding the clips along the stock cargo rails.

About those clamps, I found the notch specified in the instructions didn’t allow the clamp/rail to fit properly. Use the bottom notch. Also while one person might install the side rails it is much easier with second set of hands.

Real Truck is coming out with a new version that has levers to release the panels, instead of pull cords. It also incorporates torsion springs to assist folding the panels.

If you're still in the market, the RealTruck BAKFlip MX4 (GEN 3) Hard Folding Tonneau Cover is still the most popular option for security. There's quite few options available outside of that, depending on what your plans are and what you use the truck for the most. DM me or email me directly and I can help you narrow it down and find one that fits your needs.

Mine came with the Bakflip, and aside from the inability to mount to it (not strong enough to carry a rack) my only other comment is that it's not very weatherproof. Trips to the car wash, or even a rinse with the hose results in a fair amount of water getting inside the bed.

Previous hard retractable tonneaus, and certainly the one-piece Lunds, were much better at shedding water - if that is a concern.

It's the Maverick not the cover. Takes a lot of work to get to 95% water tight. Still working on it myself.
