I've seen other folks have this issue after having the side curtain airbag recall. When I picked up the car-after two days, with an appointment, there were greasy hand prints at various places above the doors and near the sunroof. We'll see after the upholstery cleaner dries, if the spots were removed. When I got into the car to drive home, the seat belt would only slowly retract. This was at a central Phoenix dealership.

Luckily I've not had that recall on my Maverick. But my wife had a similar recall on her car from a different manufacturer for seatbelt pretensioners. Had several greasy hand prints on the seats and carpet. People just don't care about other people's stuff.

This is a Public Service Announcement:

Take Nitrile gloves to your service appointment for the air bag recall. Take extras, leave them all around the cab. Request that they be used. Apparently Ford techs cannot be bothered to use their own.

Good call, I was just thinking that. After spreading a few around the Maverick give an empty box to the manager along with a little lecture/ rant about how to properly care for the equipment and customer. Those gloves are standard equipment where I work.

Inspect your vehicles fully before you leave them and take pictures. Then inspect again after they call you to pick them up.

It's unfortunate that other people have also had the same experience as me due to a complete lack of professionalism from their dealers.

I need to schedule my airbag recall. Ive read accounts of handprints left but don't recall pictures. Could someone post some so I can be sure to photograph the correct areas?

I've certainly not been there to know the sequence in reassembly but was told that the mechanic did use latex gloves. So, unless there's more to reinstalling the headliner after changing the air bags, he-they, should have changed to clean gloves before putting the headliner back! The gloves are only as clean as the last thing they were used for.

Excellent advice! This is a must-do anytime one takes their vehicle in for service.

I have seen others on this Forum that say that they dislike Camelback Ford
