Yesterday it finally happened, road debris from a truck struck my grille but from what I can see it only chipped the grille emblem.
I watched the red neck video on replacing the emblem without removing the bumper and wondered if anyone has additional pointers.

I need (want) to replace my soon as well. I wonder...is it possible to lightly heat up the emblem from the front and gently pry around the emblem until it pops out? It appears to be affixed to the grille with double-sided tape and two prongs but no bolts on the interior? This may be wishful thinking but any insights from folks who have replaced the emblem if this approach might work?

I think those two prongs are threaded so nuts on the back side. I should get my new emblem Monday, ordered it from my local Ford dealer so paid more than eBay but no shipping. If its not threaded studs I will let you know.

well, self threading screws are a thing. maybe self threading nuts too?

I think if it were me. Id probably try go the LED route for my emblem. I just want to try even if I didnt keep it long run.

Interesting...I should get my replacement (painted) one on Saturday. Experience with previous Fords, they are not threaded with nuts on the back. If that is the case here, that'd be fantastic, heat up the emblem, and pop it out....!

I have replaced my emblem. There are two nuts on the backside that make the threads on the studs. It's recommended to remove those nuts to remove the current emblem.

That's sort of what I expected. Any issues I need to know about? After looking at a few videos it appears I don't have to remove the bumper cover.

It can be done without removing the whole cover. It's just a pain pulling it out far enough to get the grill off. Lots of clips on the bar that are a pain.

Finished the job today and not difficult but a little fiddly. I am a tech dinosaur so can't attach the link but if you go to utube videos the one with the blue Maverick is the one I used since I did not want to remove the bumper cover. Took bout an hour but the hardest part was getting the old emblem off as it does have the 2 nuts which make the threads on the sstuds but the sticky stuff works very well and I had to use a heat gun to soften it enough to remove the emblem but not enough to warp anything. Just be careful not to damage or mar the grill.

Replaced the front emblem on my XL today with a black painted one from EmblemCity to match my rear emblem. Process was not too bad - as others have said, having a socket extender and socket swivel are a must to get this job done easier. The hardest part is just working behind the grille with the bottom portion still attached to the truck.

I was able to pry the OEM emblem off the car from the front after removing the locking nuts on the back by inserting a razor blade around the edges to break some of the adhesive. Once I had enough room to get a trim tool behind the emblem I just kept working it around the emblem gently until it popped off.

Rumor has it that the double sided tape I'd a mother to get unstuck. You might consider a little heat gun persuasion with a plastic pry bar!

That's what I did but instead of a razor blade or pry bar I used a little punch next to the studs and pushed to out from the backside.

Great idea! I assume you thought the heat helped
soften the "stikum tape"?
