Just poking around getting to know my truck. Anyone know of this green is normal ? Coolant levels are mid between low and high (maybe slightly less on the one closer to firewall) . Not sure of level at delivery.

Typically green in oil is signs of issues but I am seeing some green dye posts here and there.

200miles, hybrid. This normal ?

Dipstick paper towel wipe, no green.

The oil cap looks very green.

Return it. Mark as "defective" and state "Green oil".

UPS should take it back with no box/label and a scan code sent to your phone.

;)

My break-in oil was green, but a dark oil green. OP photos look more like coolant to me, and what was on the dipstick is entirely different.

Probably just he flash from the camera. It's VERY bright.

Either way, change early (500-1k) and monitor from there. If the coolant level maintains you are g2g! This is why I change at 500, then 2-3k and then normal intervals (which I'm not going to disclose to spark a debate, but it's frequent).

Went to run some errands and checked again not too long ago.

Oil cap green hue, with a flash it's more apparent. So I did two things. 1) wiped cap and dipstick on paper towel. Result is similar to what was posted above. I didn't see a noticable difference between the two. And 2) I dripped oil cap oil AND dipstick oil onto a black surface similar to finish of oil cap and with a flash, you do see that green.

Anyways this at least tells me what is on dipstick and oil cap is the same.

I'd be shocked if it was coolant.... Right ? Weird things happen but what would the chances be.

White LEDs (such as your phone camera flash) emit some near-UV which can enhance the green appearance if it has something fluorescent in the additive package.

The 30W HD I use on fleet vehicles looks like normal oil under regular lighting, but if you shine an LED worklight at it up close it takes on a sort of blue-green.

That is dye used to check for leaks on engine test stand, nothing to worry about.

There are so many posts here documenting the green hue to the break in oil. They put green UV dye in it for leak detection with a UV light at the factory. It's normal.....
