I just thought I’d share good news since it’s easy to complain on line. Checked my 23 XLT Hybrid oil fill cap expecting to see the sludge that some people report. Nothing to report, no sludge! Going strong at 7,000 miles and change. Pliers holding the cap, it was hard to twist off!

If you drive like I do, the gasoline engine is probably only running about half the time. Still, even at 3500 miles, you should get the break-in oil and tinyfactory oil filter out of the truck, as soon as you can. After that, use the Hybrid's Oil Life Monitor to base your oil/filter changes on.

I was happy to see no sludge yet on mine since I do mostly short trips, but I am only at about 3500 miles and original oil. On my old gen 2 Prius there would be a little milkshake sludge on the cap that I'd manually clean when I saw it, so a little condensation is normal even if it had 200k miles.
