On Tuesday my selling dealer did the ACCM recall/TSB for the Parasitic draw issue which causes the Deep Sleep Mode. So far so good as I had a bunch of notices this month. None so far. The real test will be later today when I do a 7 mile round trip. Lately that has been triggering the Deep Sleep mode. Also had my cv joints inspected. They were fine.

Great to hear, @r100gs91
no problems so far.

May I ask if they went through the retraining the battery as per the manual? It might be needed to show the truck system what the battery should be charged to, not what it has been doing.

If they haven't, then it might be a good idea to try.

It is a belief of mine from all the battery issues read here, that some or all could be having multiple potential issues (parasitic draw being one, and an under-charged battery possibly being another).

This is only to try and address the 12 volt battery being chronically under-charged.

Follow battery replacement procedure as dictated by the truck manual, if needed. Then do a battery charge re-learn, etc.

If you have a new truck, definitely try to do a re-learn! I don't think fully charged batteries are placed in the truck and I am also pretty sure the trucks have not been trained properly.

Keep in mind this will not recover a battery on it last legs...and is necessary/optimal if you have a new battery!

So, if you want, read on and I will try not to be to word-y....

Carry out charge re-learn procedure when you have plenty of time, and can carry out charging over several nights.

Buy a good quality smart battery charger (at least 4 amp) designed to charge your battery properly (AGM or Flooded Lead Acid...my charger does both, just make correct selection).

Disconnect/unplug any/all electrical draws you may have installed (eg your dash cam). This is a must-do!

Wednesday and Thursday night after work, pop your truck bonnet, expose your battery charge point (under red plastic cover), find ground point and connect the battery charger and begin charging.

Check to see when it is fully charged. When I find it full, I open the door, turn on power to the truck for a few seconds and then shut everything off and let it charge fully again.

This just forces the battery charger to go through the entire charge process again.

The longer it has been since the battery has been properly and fully charged the more I repeat this process. (Just what I do, from what I have learned here in MTC and through experience).

This process should ensure your battery is as well charged as possible before re-learn.

Now for the re-learn procedure.

Friday after work, park your truck, put your park brake on, disconnect all electrical draws such as dash cam so nothing potentially disturbs the re-learn by powering on.

Pop the truck bonnet, attach and charge battery.

As soon as it is fully charged, close all doors, tailgate and lock the truck.

Put all your key fobs as far away from the truck as possible so they don't talk to the truck or wake it up by accident.

Or in a Faraday box...that works even better. (Edited for proper procedure).

Disconnect battery charger,

Close engine bonnet and walk away for 10 hours (I know the manual says 8 hours, but from others here that have much more knowledge and test equipment then I, say it takes 45 or more minutes for the truck to power down completely. 12 hrs works even better.

From this point on, 10 hours of not activating or waking the truck up from its relearn process, is suggested by myself.

No opening it's doors or tailgate, no unlocking the doors, and NO checking your FORD APP!

Your Mav is now off and in Electrical rehab and in need of complete peace and quiet.

After the 10 hours is up, your truck system (hopefully) should be properly trained as to what a topped up and 100% charged 12 volt battery is and should charge it properly from that point forwards...barring any other unforeseen electrical problems.

I also repeat this process every 2 months, just to make sure my AGM battery is kept in its very best condition possible.

I would like to say that my 2025 Maverick Lariat has had no indications of battery charge issues, no known parasitic draw issues.

I did see a low battery charge state in my truck after we bought it. So I read the manual, read many of the battery threads here and now everything is looking much better now that I have my process to follow.

I have had 2 instances where we were away on holiday for over 2 weeks (and both times I think it was day 14 away before the warning) where we got a message on the Ford App that the truck was going to sleep to save battery.

I knew it wasn't a discharged battery problem as both times I had left my charger attached while away.

Again, I hope this helps,

Andy

I had the battery replaced and the software update a month ago. The very next day it went into sleep mode and I was none too happy. However, it apparently took a day to learn the update and I have had no issues since.

I have heard that the battery only charges to like 75-80% through forscan settings and to change that you need to change that setting to get the battery fully charged regardless of the type of battery you use. Is this true?

The default is about 80%. You can use forscan to increase to anything you want. Most change it to 95% but increasing it all is somewhat controversial.

Unless you had the battery replaced at the same time as they did the parasitic a/c draw fix, then the damage is already done and the sulfated battery will still fail early.
